I feel they need to simplify Mogstation access if they're keen on expanding it regularly. Having it accessible from the launcher or in-game wouldn't be a bad idea, imo. Beyond that I don't think things are too overly complicated.

I'm pretty sure this is a pebkac issue. Also some sort of antivirus issue as I've used both avast and bitdefender and have never had a problem with the launcher. Op has had more problems in a month than I've had in 4+ years.
While the launcher hate is a bit overblown to me, I will grant that it is far from ideal. Especially how it just accesses/utilizes IE as its core.
Ran into issues with it opening, but populating with nothing until I realized I needed to add specific domains as trusted sites under IE to fix it. Not a huge hassle or anything, but kind of obnoxious.
The forum is serviceable, but has some really obnoxious issues. The 1000 character limit needs to go. You can edit to get around it sure, but it's still a useless annoyance. And the layout of the sections is kind of stupid as well, IMO.
When I came back, I couldn't figure what was wrong since I skimmed and just went to the first "General" board I saw only to realize that "General Discussion" was the real general board.
And the bug report section is kind of a poor choice to handle such things. A dedicated form would be much better IMO.

Once upon a time there was no character or post limit on the forums, and then 2.0's open beta happened and the forums and the lodestone stone spent a week crashing before SE put in the current limits. I absolutely think at this point think that the character limit at least is silly, but there is probably still some tech that has nightmares about ARR's open beta.
Do you still get locked out if you forget your pw when you have the one time pw key? I do and I can't recall ever getting locked out even when I mistyped it several times in a row. The software key app is free.

The only thing I do not like about the launcher is the slow log in when you have to see "square enix" and other title things, is there a config to skip it i am missing?
Oh yeah the launcher does not fully load sometimes, you have to hit the x and try again.. it has no password boxes, just a black square.

And yet so many have had issues with the "unable to download patch files" myself included. I had to re-install once because of a blank screen on the launcher after a patch update one weekend and another time when i upgraded from a PS4 to PS4 Pro.
All in all i lost a little over a month of game time as well SE support... non existent
This launcher/updater is very outdated tech as is some of the coding in game
Yea I would like to clarify I was finally able to figure out my launcher issues:
I have to completely turn off my Antivirus and though I only use the normal windows antivirus, it still blocks it, along with the Avast Antivirus which I used to use. If I simply turned them off my problems would have been solved. So the launcher is no more of a real problem however, I do find it odd that though I add an exception on the URL and Application on the antiviruses, it still blocks them, which originally I didnt know.
As for the password system, have you seen Steams, Blizzards, Tera, Amazon, Ymail, Googles, GoGs, and many other low end and high end applications password systems? They are all easy to use, no blocking out, 2 step authentication has to only be entered once per computer, etc. They are simple, easy to use, and many of which dont even get funded like SE does like GoG or Origins. For a high end, well funded application, I honestly expect more.
Though I am very disappointed with their methods on everything but the game, I still have to say it's better than WoW so far in my opinion. I remember when I leveled in WoW and it was a legitimate sleep fest. The combat here may be slower leveling but it by far more fun and interesting to level. If PVE on this game is at least on par with WoW then I'm immediately hooked and PoTD already has shown me that they have some very unique PVE content.
If only the forehead in the picture represented the size of your intelligence. I said I cant do anything but sit there and NOT get mad. Because you know, getting angry is kinda pointless. I then said it's like dealing with a child poking you with a nail in the face. The rest of what I said is pretty much completely honest, this is some wonky, out of date shit and I find it funny the only helpful thing you have to add to this is a gif of a woman who tops some of the most retarded people in america.

The SE logo is basically there to mask all the start-up procedures. When you launch the game you send a signal that says "begin a huge amount of processes, sub-processes, and file operations". It's the same principle as that lame circle of dots swirling around when you start or do a major update for Windows- there's a lot of file-related things going on behind the scenes that they aren't showing you since users don't really need to know. BACK IN MY DAY you'd get an incomprehensible deluge of text flying up your screen since programmers like it when their programs and scripts give feedback in case something goes wrong. These days it's all hidden so end-users don't get confused or worried. Plus it just looks nicer, in my opinion. The only thing I do not like about the launcher is the slow log in when you have to see "square enix" and other title things, is there a config to skip it i am missing?

As for the launcher not loading, that could be any number of things. If your connection isn't stable it might time out waiting for the client/server handshake to complete. Also IE is a hunk of junk so there's that too. I had to delete the HW and SB benchmarks from my computer if I wanted to play the current version of the game since the client derped and tried to log me in to the current patch using settings from the benchmarks.
Thank you so much for this, I missed this little gem, I do not have the 2 step due to me realizing that it requires me to use it everytime I login. However, if it removes the lookout for the password then Im definitely getting it, I figured i would get it latter if I wound up sticking with the game. Sadly I never keep my phone on me or use it really so I guess now I will have to.Once upon a time there was no character or post limit on the forums, and then 2.0's open beta happened and the forums and the lodestone stone spent a week crashing before SE put in the current limits. I see now why they add the limit, I dont mind it too much since I can just cut then paste it in an edit. I guess they are going to leave it there if and when they remake this website from the ground up. If they dont then they are just being lazy at this point to be honest.
