    Soloing in this game

Is it possible/feasible to level a Disciple of War/Magic character in this game from 1 to 70 through soloing (including companion and pet)?

If so, what would be the best class/job for doing that and the method (PoTD, Fates, Daily beast tribe quests etc)?

I assume we are excluding the forced MSQ dungeons and just everything else is solo leveling? Because without doing the MSQ you won't be able to use Chocobos, the upcoming Squadrons, or PoD. Which means you'd be doing a ton of fate grinding, travelling manually, and I'd suggest an Arcanist because you'd get a pet to help you do things a wee bit faster.

If you've gone through the MSQ at least once and unlocked everything then I'd suggest RDM doing a mix of PoD/Beast Tribes/ and the daily hunts.

You can do it but without main scenario progress ( which has some group content) then you can't reach expansion areas so the level 60 to 70 grind would be significantly slowed down for you. From 1 to 60, yeah the methods you listed are fine with PotD being fastest.

Assuming you’ll be doing the forced MSQ dungeons which you have to play with other active players, you can level up your character by soloing. As mentioned by others you can do FATEs, levequests, challenge log, and daily beast tribes, then above 50 add potd and clan hunts, and lastly if they are still available, sidequests. Good luck.

At which moment do you play a MMO to go solo everything? Even PotD, damn this place would be even more boring if you wanna xp there alone.

You can solo to 70. You could even possibly retroactively go do the 1-50 MSQ content solo unsynched if you were dedicated enough. XP has no real limitation other than speed, but if you're never looking to party with another person then this game is not for you. You may not have to TALK with them, but you're gonna have to party with them to clear all story missions. Why would you want to do it this way?

wait.. why are you asking this if you joined in 2011? you must've played this game pretty deeply.

I don't think PotD would be particularly fast for solo leveling since it tends to be pretty slow-going if you are doing it solo...

FATEs, Beast-Tribe Quests, and side-quests are your best options, but the second are time-gated and the third are finite (and don't help tremendously, TBH), so things end up being rather limited. :-/

If you do not have a level 70 character and have not done the MSQ, then no soloing is not possible, because the game requires you to do group content to unlock Heavensward and group content to finish the final quest. Now if you are planning on soloing a second/third/fourth etc class, then soloing is possible, just know that it will take alot longer then doing stuff via the Duty Finder.

I recommend you do the following:

    - Always have food buff and the GC buff on.
    - Always have your chocobo pet with you.
    - There are items (I think they were part of events and pre-order) who provide bonus exp untill level 30 or 50, wear those items.
    - When logging off rest in a city/town/inn/housing district to accumulate resting experience.
    - Always complete the challenge log of the solo contents that you are able to do.

As for class, I think the best class would be one where you dont have alot of downtime and this class is able to take on FATE bosses on its own. I personaly, recommend Warrior or Dragoon (dragoon has 2 skills that can return HP, which makes it handy, just know that Lancer is a bit boring (atleast it was during ARR and HW) untill you reach level 26.

I just had a baby and you know when the baby cries i can’t just leave the party. So I am creating a character just for soloing.

When i have tons of time, i will switch to my main char

    Ooo good luck!
what I can suggest though is setting expectations when you do end up having to party: "Hey guys, i have a newborn so I might have to bail unexpectedly. ". I know if someone mentioned that before a run starts I'd be willing to wait. Or possibly find a more "casual" FC that will understand that you may have to leave on short notice.

Contrary to the "OMG OPTIMAL OR KICK" mentality you might see on a lot of the forums, lots of people who play this game are cool and understanding.

    Congrats on the Baby!!!!!
