(Tries to put on a serious face)
It is a breezy day in the resistance camp, but breeze is not the only thing on the wind ...
There are rumors of disobedience in the camp (*gasp)! Could it be the work of Garlean spies? Has rules and order enforcing been too lacks as of lately? Are the veterans not getting along with the new recruits?
This seems like a job for the new leader of the camp, Lyse! She walks amongst the people and spends plenty of time speaking with them. How glad everyone is, to have her amongst us at difficult times such as this!
But wait, it seems she has heard something unsettling, something to even put a frown on her brow ... what could it be?
They say the WoL has been muttering things alone. As if multiple people, split between opinions, are engaged in the most critical of debates ... understandable, almost. But a few scouts with good ears claim there is something deeper in the whispers than just musings for the next tactical encounter ... there is an encounter being fought, then and there, but it is not with primals ... The WoL is fighting thyself, on the subject of "Lyse".
The faces of knowledgeable veterans turn pale. Has the fighting and the killing finally caught up with even the strongest amongst them? And so, the rumors spread, and unease grows ... the champion has concerns, and it is about our leader. There are talks of separating them, to settle the WoL in another camp from Lyse. Some have tried to talk with the WoL, but all they get is another impeccable face of greeting, and regular conversation. Each and many who fancied themselves a good chatter had tried, and all return, defeated, by the magnificence of the WoL's social skills.
Despite repeated urges and advice to "let them take care of it", Lyse decides that she can stand this no longer. The WoL is both a comrade and a friend. Have they not gone through so much together? Have they not trusted, and wholly accepted each other? But even Lyse understands there is more to that. Despite Zenos being defeated, even she still feels haunted by his lingering monstrosity despite only encountering him briefly. One can only imagine what the WoL had to go through.
"I will not sit idly by to lose another friend again." Lyse has made up her mind. She approaches you, and asks you what is the matter.
But how could you tell her? How would you even explain to her the quantum hivemind processing skills you use, to make absolute sense of everything happening in that world? To discover the most efficient battle tactics, the bis gear, and the most charming glamours? The secret of how you know, always, exactly how to defeat every primal you encounter? Your secret of whipping up supporting adventurers from nowhere to help fight primals whenever you need them, whom somehow all share the same level of knowledge, skills, and expert coordination with you? And who, in their infinite combined wisdom, are now having second thoughts about Lyse?
No, you just put up your impeccable conversation poker face, and tell her all is fine. Lyse stands still for a moment, then moves forwards and burys her face in your shoulder. Clutching you tightly, she gently begs you to let her know what's wrong, because she cannot stand to see you suffer anymore. And so, in the warmth of her embrace, you tell her ... (do we really want to tell her everything? No, I'd rather we didn't ... just tell her a few heartfelt words of advice, suggestion, or whatnot ok? Just a bit of the backstory, just enough about doubt, to ease her doubts, then encourage and support her, ok?)
Ahem. So. We know how there's been lots of second-guessing Lyse as a character now. And we've had quite enough discussion between ourselves to at least form a few preliminary structures of the approximate points to a general idea of a tentative conclusion by now. So if you had the chance to say a few things, as the WoL, to Lyse, what would you say? Come on now, it's not like I'm asking you to say a few well-worded things to Zenos ...... (you still can, if you wish, I imagine some of you do ... hey don't look at me with that look, I know you do too.)
