Wow how mature to personal attack people because they are not happy with content..completely ignoring that even Yoshida once pointed out that criticism is way more valuable than compliments..I also visit threads that are about interesting ideas and if I like something in the game I will point that out too..yet I will also post about something that I dislike.

Also if you go into a thread and complain about the complainers you are just doing the same thing as us and at the same time you keep the thread alive too.

You know its completely fine if you like the game how it is right now. There is nothing wrong with that..but people are allowed to dislike something too and should not be attacked for that opinion..Both sides can sometimes be a bit too much but in this thread alone most of the aggressive and insulting comments comes from the side that like the patch..why is that necessary? Yes the OP might have overdid it with his title but there is still no reason to attack someone over it. Just write your arguments about the subject itself and not about the people posting it..

Also if you have more and more such threads with quite the amount of likes then maybe there is a reason for that? Yes there will be never enough content to make everyone happy but other than the new PVP mode what content of the new patch will stay for a long time? The one dungeon and the raid will be done in one or two days and after that they are just there to get loot and as soon as people have that they will probably barely run it anymore. Ultimate is only for a very specific kind of people thus the majority will never truly see that one in this expansion. Housing is for only a small amount of people too and things like glamour and hair is truly no long living content. Its nice to have but nothing that will keep most people logged in for months. (Other than horrible RNG numbers to get them x)) Really the only cosmetic stuff that might make people play for a longer time are the pets and mounts, depending where to get them.

So what content is in this patch that will keep people playing it for months which on top of that is also new? Well the only one is probably PVP and that is only more popular right now thanks to the exp it gives and seeing all the problems with bots in the old ones, one could argue how long people will truly play it and how many. I would be fine if they introduced more ways to challenge oneself with older content. Like having certain achievements for running certain dungeons with kind of "rules". This would keep people playing even older content. Yes even those things are probably not for everyone but really what is there in this patch for the casual crowd that wants to play more PvE in a PvE focused game?

@Mature: You do kinda know that you yourself also once started a thread where you disliked something that SE did? Yet that was fine but if someone starts a thread about something you enjoy its bad? Really if this was that bad for the community the mods would have already closed it after some pages. (And posting those lines in it does keep it on page one and thus alive, so you are kinda doing the exact opposite of what you want to happen x))

Yes, but I don't think he meant "criticism" like:

"And none of that content will last more than 24 hours (harder raid is the only lasting thing, but only less than 1% will bother), whereas a patch should last months.
    Easier now?"

from people totally fed up with pretty everything in the game itself. In terms of that, they rely on the numbers they get (nobody needs to tell them, that nobody plays the game.. if that's the case they will notice first).

Yoshi-P also said to exactly those people (not knowing how to be motivated to play the game and be bored after few days of an expansion): "Take a break".

They want suggestions, yes... but telling them "Change the whole concept" and they show you the door. Especially if you word your criticism like you hate most of their work.
It's like the difference of telling a band "Why don't you try to do something with a Didgeridoo?" and "Play something else, your style is boring after 6 albums."

It all depends on whether this content is worth an entire new game's price.
FFXIV costs roughly $15/month. 3 month cycles per patch means $45 per update to the game. If you are a patient gamer and don't need to buy every game at launch, you can get decent "new" games for $45.

So in essence, when people are complaining that the patch is empty, they are making a comparison of opportunity costs: do I spend $45 playing three months worth of a clearly-gutted patch? Or can I get another game (or two... steam sales/humble bundle) that will last me roughly the same time frame?
What makes this decision even more blaring is the fact that SE has stripped the game of a dungeon for the promise of more content.

Once my subscription is up, I think I'll do what I essentially did the entire 3.X patch series: ride the coat tails of the free log in campaigns. They always seem to occur around the release of new patches, and since I really only care for the MSQ I can log in without needing to pay a sub. And I don't have to partake in the quarterly tome grind, since the second-best/easy-to-get gear fulfills ilvl requirements.

Anyone else who feels there is a lack of content, just remember the opportunity cost above. Is this patch really worth your $45? If not, there's nothing wrong with voting with your wallet.

If those 2 games are great then you probably made a good choice.

But, remember while those two games may give better value over the course of three months. Their expansions end immediately or a year or two after. Investing in this game has more replay value over the long haul unless you prefer playing the same thing over and over with little changes.

I play the heck out of old Bioware and Squaresoft games to this day, but that experience does not change anymore for the most part.
