    Ultimate level raiding, or something so hard it may as well just be a wipe button, been an requested feature since Coil Savage was a thing. There was a subset of players that demolished that content despite being far too difficult for the average player of the time. (Mind you, iLVLs were still very low.)

    Plus, an enormous difficulty spike grabs certain players. Having something to outrageous to conquer is good for the game.

    I will NEVER touch Ultimate, but I know players who are thrilled for it and are going to work on it. So it's still new content. (And I will enjoy the streams and vids of other's struggle.)

    If FFXIV did rehauls of jobs as radical as you claim WoW has and does regularly, I think much of the playerbase would bail, or we'd see a similar "vanilla or not" phenomenon as WoW has. Even with the level cap increases and role pool consolidation, jobs haven't changed on a deep, fundamental level.

    This is an appealing feature of FFXIV since we don't need to constantly learn a new job unless we choose to. If we leave the game for some reason, we can just pick it back up no problem. This is by design.

    It's called accessibility.

    if 4.1 actually fixes the game a bit, actually dresses inventory issues, and such it is fine.

    However my understanding is that 4.1 is only starting to address it, not solve, so I am not sure how good the changes are for waiting this long. I really think FFXIV needs some parallel progress progression, because the high turn over rate in gear is insane.

    It's more than likely also a ton of assets for future content. (base coding for Eureka and the new Relic) As an immediate it seems minimal; but we'll see what the actual patch holds at release.
