Squadron AI of any kind already makes up for another dungeon no one will remember. We also got an expansion to treasure maps which has never happened before. Changes to housing zones that hasn't happened since Apartments.

Treasure Maps were added in 2.1, The Aquapolis was added in 3.3. Feels like said expansion has happened before.
Apartments only happened 2 patches ago...
There's only 5 dungeons you can run with Squads. You can not get Squads until 47. So you could probably easily solo any dungeon these are used in by this point. So it's useful for....leveling solo? Even though most people would still opt for POTD. Seems like a bit of a useless feature so far.
yea and now we're getting an expansion to Uznair which has never happened before. so for SB we have new maps, we have a new dungeon that spawns from maps and now we have an extension of that dungeon. 2.x and 3.x maps did not have that, this is new.
yea, it took them nearly the entire 3.x series to change the original 3 housing zones.
we're now getting an even bigger change to the original 3 housing zones in the first patch of the 4.x series.
it's not going to be super useful, but it's the basis for something that can be expanded on. the point was this was added instead of another Lv 70 expert dungeon, which if most 50/60 dungeons are used as an example most people forget about them really quickly.

How can it be expanded on in a way which justifies its existence? It'll never be used for current expansion content. POTD exists. Roulettes exist. A whole lot of people are above where it could be almost useful. I can see its benefit, but at the same time...the benefit is so small it shouldn't have been a thing. Dev time would have been better spent elsewhere. For example: A L70 version of Hall of the Novice.
that 100% opinion. i've never once been inside Hall of the Novice or Stone Sky Sea. i don't hate either of those things, i don't think either of those things is wasted development time, but any development time going towards those things is definitely not BETTER for me.How can it be expanded on in a way which justifies its existence? it's justified because it's different.

It would presumably better the skill level of the general population - which was suppose to be a major focus of Stormblood (Failed). This would benefit everybody, including yourself.that 100% opinion. i've never once been inside Hall of the Novice or Stone Sky Sea. i don't hate either of those things, i don't think either of those things is wasted development time, but any development time going towards those things is definitely not BETTER for me.

the people that are really bad don't use those features, they can't even be bothered to read tooltips. i regularly play with friends and FC people so we always carry bad people in our groups anyway. the benefit is miniscule compared to something new.
Novice network has not improved anything and will not improve anything. I have seen Novice tanks who are better tanks then mentors, same goes for dps and healers. I thought the MENTORS were suppose be the ones doing the schooling not the Novice :P

For 1 job, yes.Treasure Maps were added in 2.1, The Aquapolis was added in 3.3. Feels like said expansion has happened before.

Not for all jobs who are still low level
So lies from the developers are fine as long as they are from 4 years ago? Cool.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
