Forgot UI changes as well as Sleipnir flying and the broom getting animations for flight. Two additions that have been heavily requested.Today I learned that if you aren't happy with what Square Enix is putting out content-wise, you are "spoiled" and "entitled."
It seems like many people who are shouting "unsubscribe" haven't considered the fact that those expressing concerns actually really like this game.
It's not so much the concern as the outright dismissal of things being added, albeit not to people's liking, are being told to others, and pushed on others as an ideal, that resources for development were wasted. Those are the spoiled and entitled people. Literally, we are still getting 1 extreme primal, 1 dungeon, 1 set of beastman dailies, 1 24 man raid, increased map dungeon, more story; this is literally almost all of the majority of the player base could want. The "spoiled" and "entitled" just want more. Seriously, it's like being offered two cookies, slapping the hand offering said cookies and screaming they want more while simultaneously saying that not enough is the same as nothing new.
Yes, we're not getting much in terms of overall playable content, but we are getting some as well as quality of life changes based on player feedback. These changes also require development time and resources. How people treat this, fixing bugs is a waste of development and resources because it doesn't give you anything new to do, right?
Yeah, it's a shame that some things got pushed back, but SE has their reasons, whatever they may be. I don't care that people are complaining - people always complain over something - it's just the blatant attitude toward "no content!" because some don't like what is coming, or isn't coming.
Quoted for truth. Most haven't taken umbrage to complaints in general. In fact, I'd actually agree that 4.1 isn't offering a whole lot. What some have been irked by is the vitriol towards Ultimate-- a rehash of primarily old mechanics reused with numbers scaled up. Why? Because it's the first raid exclusive content released in over a year that is intended to challenge the hardcore crowd. Put another way, stop blaming us for SE's sparse content update this patch. And stop demanding they take away a mode we may like because you (generalizing) won't. I think Perform is a complete waste of resources, but I'm not here complaining they did that instead of adding something else.

People actually complaining that there's a variety of content for different tastes... O_O
All this talk about raids and dungeons... We're getting renewed housing maps and a music system, among tons of other things. Those take development time too, you know, even if you personally don't care (but I do! It's fluff things like these what keep me hooked to this game, in fact).
fluff isnt real content , minion is not content , nor is a song, content is something that you can actually actively engage in which this patch is basicly pretty thin, the skye isnt falling of course , but once raiders get rekted by ultimate. And people have shiryu on farm, and you do your weekly 24 man you are pretty much gona go right back to what your doing in game now. This patch doesnt change anything for me at all just add two new things to farm now thats about it a once a week 24 man, and shiryu.People actually complaining that there's a variety of content for different tastes... A whole brandnew music system? It is content; very nice content, in fact, as we'll be hearing music from other players in towns. Not all content is about dungeons. There are many ways to play this game, and SE is trying to use its resources for adding different things for different people. Them adding 2 dungeons or just 1 doesn't change anything for me either, as I'll be doing a single roulette everyday and I never care which dungeon I get.fluff isnt real content , minion is not content , nor is a song, content is something that you can actually actively engage in which this patch is basicly pretty thin, the skye isnt falling of course , but once raiders get rekted by ultimate. Also, the new PVP mode seems the most elaborated mode so far. And most importantly, it looks like a lot of fun! I'm quite eager to try it.
PS: I'll also be spending an insane amount of time swimming in the new housing areas -laughs-.

I've kind of refrained from commenting here, but here goes.
While it might not be lots of content, I will wait until AFTER I've seen it to pass judgement, because if the quality is there(which, really, we can't tell until we actually get our hands on it all...) then I think the quantity sacrificed for quality might just make up for it.
yeah it really depends how much work they put into "quality of life changes" because the thing is, we do need those, we can't just keep releasing content every 2-3 months that gets old and stale after 3 weeks while neglecting other things. For example, did you know chat log errors still exist while crafting? and those exist since 1.0 beta. (has to do when you complete a craft for this modern day of ffxiv)I've kind of refrained from commenting here, but here goes.

we need more parallel progression yes, the Dev team clearly can't keep up with the high turn over rate they have with gear being outdated. To the people making realistic demands, just want content to last longer - I agree, there's a lot that could be done to extend life.
Examples...
> Run content at minimum item level could be encouraged by unique rewards. Drops gear of slightly higher level with dyeing unlocked, maybe an extra materia slot, maybe tokens to save towards something.
> Time Trial mode, gives coffers to be appraised for random loot, higher amount of coffers for faster clear times. Add rare drops unique to each instance like a coral crafting mat at Shisui. Possibly scale all the leveling dungeons to lv70 for fun, scale the enemy HP and power. Good way to earn gil.
> Exploration mode, return to cleared instances to explore for vistas, gathering nodes, sidequests, triple triad opponents, anything number of things that could be added into all those locations that until now have only been used for linear dungeon runs. Less resource heavy to reuse locations more instead of creating new ones every time.

I actually wasn't referring to the quality of life changes, I was more meaning the quality of the new raid/raid tiers/dungeon.
I won't argue that many of those QoL items are way past overdue, but they really aren't what the majority of people have had issues with(from what I've read). It's more a lack of new content, which if they sacrificed inputting more content to boost the quality of what they are adding, it might just work out in their favour. But, that will only be determined in a week.
At this point I do not care about "new content" AT ALL! because it is just the same skin swap (same manichics just different order and bigger numbers) I really just want to see the game FIXED, chat log errors, way chat box scrolls when you are trying to look at them, glam log, more inventory issue addressing, housing shortage addressing, outside furnishing update, maybe add in instanced housing. You know the kind on runescape where you actually work on your house to increase the size of it and so on? Addressing how servers feel the need to confirm every single thing where a single packet loss means not mounting, stresses server too much, and likely what SE is blaming why we have no glam log, more currency in currency tab, maybe even getting rid of item management off retainers because that loads the server too much and just give us a bank ?I actually wasn't referring to the quality of life changes, I was more meaning the quality of the new raid/raid tiers/dungeon.

There is lots of things I like to see for the game to improve on vs seeing "new content" dead in 3 months.
