Apparantly you can't read what the complaints are /sigh. No one is saying dps is bad (although BH is underwhelming as a raid buff). people are saying we still have useless traits, too situational skills and skills that contradict or go against the flow of the job that was established for 4 years. Also we were the only job in the entire game to not get a new damage skill this exp. Mnk just plays meh and is more boring than HW monk its also still the most punished melee due to GL3s short timer, PBs ridiculous CD time and positional requirements on every gcd. Also saying it's tied for best melee dps with SAM is pure ignorance.

Brotherhood doesn't even make up the difference either except in a nin/drg/mnk/brd(or mch) comp. I digress though, the thread isn't about DPS, it's about how the skills and playstyle have just fallen flat with SB compared to everyone else.

How many people are going to come in here, clearly having not read the topic at all, and STILL claim this is all about DPS. It NEVER has been about DPS, it has ALWAYS been about the core mechanics of the job and how it really hasn't changed since ARR. The sooner people start realising this, the sooner we can stop the ignorant comments thinking it's all about Monk's DPS.

Edit - Ignore earlier comment about Dragoon, missed the HT nerf. Still an overall net gain though from the looks of it.

I know I'm gonna get hate for this based on how everyone's reacting but I'm personally fine with the way MNK is aside from One Ilm Punch and Tornado Kick as long as we do good damage. Not like we're in the same situation as SMN or MCH anyway so I'm grateful if anything.
We need to do something. This may take in one side, a whole expansion and/or just another patch. What I see:
- RoE-RoW riddle/tackle only useful for PvP.
- Different tackles are useless for PvE.
- Earth buffs are useful for early savage progression: Small margin of players.
- GL refresh is alright but too situational, can be set as an independent oGCD and not part of the riddle mechs.
So:
- Ditch riddle/tackle mechanics.
- RoF is named differently, being high CD buff, just like RoF CD timer. Ditch the increase of GCD.
- RoE def buff can be turned into a property of FoE itself, doesn't need this riddle/tackle nonsense. Reply mech has a CD to be triggered again.
- Keep RoW it for PvP and rename the skills differently.
If we get this, a rework could be on its way that may take the whole expa.
Short term solution:
- BH overall dmg buff, not just physical.
All i want is GL to not fade when we use tornado kick, or maybe just decrease the GL level by one.
To be honest, I've pretty much given up on Monk. I don't know if I'm in the minority with the people who don't like the MNK changes or not but I know that the ff team doesn't care enough to read these forums to actively change what they've done. As long as you have enough people willing to adapt to bad design and play it well enough that not enough complain, nothing's gonna change. At least, that's my two cents. MNK was sacrificed for SAM and at this point I've made my peace with that.

i kinda doubt they will do nice changes for 5.0 on monk seeing what they lack of direction on how monk should play
