Yeah would rather not have to filter out /say /shout etc... and yeah my blacklist is filling up lol.

With a chat filter you would just enter a list of words you want to block and if any chat contained that word it would block the whole thing so you would never see it in your chat. It was really nice in the other game. Never got spam.

An alternative would be to have your General tab remain the default settings, and create another tab with "important" logs only (party chat, alliance chat, free company chat, linkshells, /tell, etc.). That's what I do. That way, if I want to see /say or /shout, I can sit in my General tab. If I don't want to see the bot spam in cities, I switch over to my filtered tab. Not really the same as what you're suggesting, and not really any better or worse, but just another alternative since FFXIV doesn't have specific phrase filtering options.

There's probably no use keeping them on your blist more then a week, they'll either be deleted to create a new character or banned and on a new account.
