Chat filter

Could you please put in a chat filter? The spam is so annoying and would love to never see it.

Example, in the filter I could put .c0m and it would block the whole spam.

I know it can be done, other mmo I played had one and never saw a spammer until I had accidentally reset my ui.

FFXIV chat logs do have filters you can set up to filter out /say, /shout, /shout, etc..
You can find the settings under Character Configuration > Log Window Settings > Log Filters.

Alternatively, you can blacklist the spamming bot, but they are usually deleted within an hour of creation (and replaced sooner), so blacklisting just needlessly fills up your Blacklist.

Yeah would rather not have to filter out /say /shout etc... and yeah my blacklist is filling up lol.

With a chat filter you would just enter a list of words you want to block and if any chat contained that word it would block the whole thing so you would never see it in your chat. It was really nice in the other game. Never got spam.

An alternative would be to have your General tab remain the default settings, and create another tab with "important" logs only (party chat, alliance chat, free company chat, linkshells, /tell, etc.). That's what I do. That way, if I want to see /say or /shout, I can sit in my General tab. If I don't want to see the bot spam in cities, I switch over to my filtered tab. Not really the same as what you're suggesting, and not really any better or worse, but just another alternative since FFXIV doesn't have specific phrase filtering options.

There's probably no use keeping them on your blist more then a week, they'll either be deleted to create a new character or banned and on a new account.

Yeah it's a lot to clear though. Would just be nice for them to implement a filter because it would solve the whole gil spam issue and no one would have to worry about blacklisting/cleaning blacklist. Also wouldn't have to sit there and report because you would never see them once you had your filters set up.

Yeah I do that. My whole point I guess is I don't want to have to constantly do that or blacklist then clear the blacklist. People shouldn't have to deal with it. Chat filter would put gil spammers out of sight out of mind for everyone. I'm sure it would be easy for them to implement it.

For now though I just followed HyoMinPark's advice and made a city log that doesn't have /say /shout etc... Issue with that though is I would miss all the /say and emotes from friends while in the city.

yeah its a nice idea, and i will also start doing that, sadly i do love to sit around and read others sayings, makes the game feel more alive, but then between every letter word theres this spamming gilseller or annoyng fc recruitment.
