Possible to macro Quick Chat commands?

Firstly, I hate Quick Chat and wish that we could talk freely in the Feast like human beings. This will never change.

However, since we're still forced to use it I wondered whether it was possible to macro the individual phrases? I can't figure out how to. It already takes up slots on my bar (admittedly, slots which are relatively empty with the PVP hotbar system) so I figured I may as well merge my Feast and FL chat shortcuts using macros, since each chat method only works in one of the modes anyway. But this doesn't seem possible. Am I just blind?

Thank you in advance for any help with this!

Pull up the PvP profile with the quick chat options. Then pull up your macro window. Drag the quick chat button into the macro window, and it should drop the macro text command to execute that quick chat.

Not that I know of. Can't even switch hotbars with macro but you can switch between hotbar and cross hotbar. That's the only work around I know to put multiple quick chats.

Edit: oh i didn't know about drag and drop.

I think what they want is a single macro to do both. So they might have a "Fall Back!" macro that might look something like this:

    /a Fall Back! <se.1>
    /pvpchat "Fall Back"*

    * I have no idea what the macro text looks like for the feast quick chats, but this was a demo for what they are trying to achieve (I'm at work so I can't get it for you).

So if they hit that macro in front lines they tell the alliance to fall back through normal chat, and the feast command fails because it's only available in feast.
If they hit that macro in feast, the alliance chat fails because it's feast, but it successfully runs the Fall Back quick chat command.

So, 1 macro and 1 button to serve the same function in both feast and frontlines. Good idea, really.

Thanks, I'm also at work so can't try but I'll have a play with that idea again tonight. I'm on pad so never even thought to try drag and drop

This looks to be the case. Very odd design decision - I can't think of why they wouldn't have macro commands for feast quick chat. It doesn't prevent spam or anything. Best I can think of is that they just didn't want to spend the resources in adding macro support. Makes sense when we consider that they spend minimal resources on PvP as whole.

Oh well, thanks all! Shame that even this tiny idea didn't work out; quick chat has found yet another way to frustrate me

There's a good chance they simply used the macro system to make the quick chat actions, in which case you couldn't macro them because they'd be macros themselves and you cannot macro macros.

    /p "Hello!"
    <se.1> (hidden).

Or sth. That's my guess anyway, there's no real way to tell from the user end.

That would make a lot of sense, and a fantastic theory.
