I was leveling up thm and killing things in two hits getting 300 exp, sure it was fun at first, but I want some excitement! I want to run around sleeping it, nuke, dot! Oh wait, he just said they were going to do that ^.^

If they give us the option of directly paying to them of course I'm going to pay to play. Free to play MMOs just don't cut it I'm afraid, in any aspect. I'm not touching third party crap like Clink'n'Buy though. Why do you think I would care about how combat is going to evolve in the game if I was not going to play it. Anyway that's another topic.

From the very beginning, with Tanaka's old, ridiculous, and amorphous leve battle system, I've been writing and hoping for considerably longer fights across the board. Back then, in party, my mage would not even manage to cast one spell successfully on most of the mobs, before they were dead, and my MRD would sometimes not manage to plant one blow. Since then, the tempo of the fighting in this game has been unsatisfactorily fast to me, and more importantly, the feel of the fighting, quite perfunctory.
I also happen to think (and this is a minority opinion, apparently) that leveling is currently way too fast. I have expressed this continuously in several threads, quite a few started by me, through the last year. And no, I don't want the choice to be ours, and I don't want a mixture, unless it is of challenging and hard. Does anyone remember the "tough" feel from mobs that rated thus in XI? Which party looked for "decent challenge", or for "even match"?

someone should make a poll asking if the leveling is too fast![]()

Leveling is stupidly too fast w/o being PL'd. No reason people should have capped every class within such a short period of time. Hell in XI It took me a year and a half to hit 75 on SMN. (Granted there were alot of reasons behind that, but still around 4-6 months depending on job is about the norm for my 7 75's.) And i'm not talking that abyssea crap, god please keep XIV away from that garbage.

I'd like to see longer fights. I'm not a big fan of just AoEing a bunch of weak mobs for good exp. Normal mobs should be enough of a challenge/threat to make us use CCs when we pull huge groups. The problem is the current mobs don't require us to use the class skills effectively to defeat, and that's what's making the leveling process really boring.

i used to grind efts in ff14 that took around a min to kill for 350 xp. It took a few months to get my first 50. everyone complained and now you can get 50 over night if you want. I dont think the xp was really that bad, what made it bad was the honorably slow pop rate.
the 10 lvl cap for xp is what made the battles so fast. no one wants to kill something harder if there's no extra xp for it. they have adjusted the stats to make mobs harder at lower lvls which is a good start. The problem is, is that if you throw 8 people at a mob that you could probably solo of course its gonna die fast. Se compensated for this by adding links. It turned into an aoe spam fest. I haven't xp's since 1.20 but id think its more dynamic now with more 1 on 1 combat and less aoe.

I think SE just needs to increase XP gain from harder mobs.
Make is where a group of 8 killing mobs that take 2ish min to kill give more XP/HR then chaining a bunch of weak things.
Will allow people to actually do combos, and when they reintroduce Battle Regiments it will give a reason to do it. Skill chain + Magic Burst was a great thing in XI... ToaU sorta killed off the SC+MB and everything became a spam fest.
It is the norm in mmos now days for a mob at your level to die in a few hits it seems... but at least for me that is absurd the game makes it impossible to fail and hands things to you on a platter more or less. There is simply nothing fun about killing every non-boss mob in 3-10secs.
Really I think the issue stems from 2 main issues. The Solo player aspect of things and everyone wanting action games instead of rpgs. No way to balance for group and solo play unless they really tweak XP rates. Something that is balanced for group would take way too long for a solo person, something for a solo person would just drop dead in a group. And it is very obvious the majority of mmo players do not want complex/difficult battles where everyone works togethers... there is alot of screaming on the forums about everything being easy mode.... but there is no way to make a hard 8sec fight, that is simply impossible.
