Longer Fights isn't a good idea for EXP. If fights take too long people will not fight that mob. I rather see Long fights for like Boss battles, HNMs, NMs, etc. In terms of the exp partys no.
The currect setup for this game requires you to level alot of classes to max level to be balanced all around. So basically slowing new players by making exp battles longer would effect gameplay. This game isnt like FFXI where you only need to worry about a subjob and a main job but you need to level up all your classes.
If they do make battles longer I would like to see them add a Subjob class system. Also drop the All class Ability Equip from 10 to 5. Also would mean all your class Abilitys for Subjob would be lv1~25. halve of lv50. This maybe be a good thing also. They could add more Space for more Abilitys. Right now earning Abilitys now by leveling up only happen like every 5-6 levels. Before the change it was like 2-5.

vote yes for longer fight.
for solution: Can add Elite type of mobs with x2 to x5 hp of standard mobs with better exp and items drop rate, will make them worth killing in pt and challenge for solo
I'm 100% for longer fights. It would be pretty simple too. All SE would have to do is take the camps we have now, decrease the linkage and put a "Elite" symbol around them to warn solo players. These mobs are meant for party play and yield much higher exp then groups of non Elite mobs meant for solo-trio groups. /shrug
Edit: Just realized the person above me had the same idea roughly~ Kudo's. And I thank god this game is no longer in Tanaka's court. Although perhaps givin another 9 years, he may have made something good out of the game. Maybe..

Leveling is stupidly too fast w/o being PL'd. No reason people should have capped every class within such a short period of time. Hell in XI It took me a year and a half to hit 75 on SMN. (Granted there were alot of reasons behind that, but still around 4-6 months depending on job is about the norm for my 7 75's.) And i'm not talking that abyssea crap, god please keep XIV away from that garbage.
I think the problem here is leveling quickly AND not having much to do once you hit cap.
The lv50 Strongholds could have been some fun content, besides Taper farming for Ifreit there was the gear as well... but c urrently it's not worth using (put materia in anything and you have comparable if not superior gear).
Ifreit would be fun if it weren't so reliant on timed attacks and the client latency.
Moogle looks amusing but 20 nut charms is abit high, I know someone who has won about 15 times and has 2 weapons he'll never use and 3 charms.
I really hope those 2 instances coming with the Jobs next patch are good...
Btw: I'm in favor of slightly longer fights for parties, exp does not need to go up any higher than it already does, except make chains longer to compensate.

I finished a Guild Leve in 57 seconds yesterday and I don't even think that's the fastest I've done.
Yes, maybe fights should be a little longer.
1.) 100 mobs x 200xp taking 1hour yielding 20,000xp
2.) 50 mobs x 400xp taking 1hour yielding 20,000xp
I like #2 ^^
Less time running around for mobs, more time fighting!
I do like that Ninesuz ^.^ But maybe 30 mobs an hour.
That would be 2mins of fighting per mob, now don't forget about links!~ Soo it's pretty much 2mins of survival! With the CC spells/abilities they should be adding, it sure would be fun, that is for sure!
This thread needs to be addressed by Yoshi! I'm gonna quote myself from another thread.
I agree; I mean. Not just that, after making them longer they'd need to add buffs and debuffs that fit longer battles. Make it more strategic for casters. I miss long lasting debuffs so much.
