I like the longer fights. I think everyone does, that i've talked to at least. I've brought this up a few times in the past, too. Spells like poison/dia/bio are useless when the mob dies in 5-10 seconds. Make them live longer, and this will fix the problem where you can get to 50 in hours instead of weeks.

I remember going into crawlers nest, partying for 2-3hr, and getting half a level, or most of a level. In this game, that's 2-3+ levels. I'm starting an 8+ year commitment with this game. I don't need super rapid fire content, slow and steady will get the most for me.

That's how I feel, it's harder to have a 8 year long game when you can just get to 50 in really a weeks time, they would have to be pulling content out their butts at least once a month

That's the part that seems to confuse people. Leveling is content. It's something to do. It's fun, it's how you get items to sell or craft with. The drop rates right now are insanely to high as well. I spend an hour hack and slash on puks to get from 15-18 and i have a hundred puk wings and hundreds of crystals? Where's signet, first off. It's the little things that SE keeps forgetting and it's really annoying.

I like a mix of both to be honest.

Do people remember Dhamel and Goblin XP parties in buburimu ? the risk especially with those goblins was one of the things I used to love about FFXI, of course then SE added Colibrii 1 mins fights and it all when to S***

I agree with the above post regarding side quests also, its pretty standard in MMO's these days for questing to be the main aspect of leveling a character, I'm hoping Yoshi-p plans to bring in decent quests in 2.0, he says hes played other MMO's so he must be aware of it.

Leave the XI mentality to die? It's not xis mentality, it's my mentality. That's what I enjoy not killing things in 1 hit, how is that fun?

What 1 hit. I never said 1 hitting stuff would be good, unless they are way way below your power. I'm just asking to stay away from boring designs like having to fight a normal every-place mob that is at your power level for like 1 minute or more. It makes soloing for experience become non-efficient, item farming by hunting mobs even less efficient, combat slow, probably introduces needlessly long downtimes between mobs, and generally gives off a sluggish feeling. Like I said, there are so many better and smarter ways of introducing longer and more immersive battles with tougher mobs, than making normal mobs a chore to fight.

Well, dude, you have to remember this is a "fantasy" game. You're not fighting cats, birds, dogs, iguanas, gorillas, and w/e other ridiculous shit you can think of...you're fighting "magical creatures." Do you really think that NPCs would be fearful of a bunch of squirrels and rats that a handful of "naive, poorly skilled, weapon-weilding douchebags" can kill? No...and that's what the current fights come off as; and i'm not the only one that feels that way.

We're supposed to be fighting monsters that terrify "non-adventurers." What's so terrifying about monsters that a child could run out in kill if he/she had enough practice swinging a piece of metal around, rigorously. It's stupid. Do you ever see movies where two fighters just run up to each other and flail aimlessly at one another?

No...they square off, exchange blows, defend, maneuver, exploit weaknesses, counter, etc.

It's fun to this generation of MMORPG gamers, look at all of the new MMOs in the past 5 years, hell even look at all of the action based offline games.

Those games are fun, but don't have any longevity to them. I try and play some of the online action games but they get tiring fast!~ The offline games that are hack n slash I can only play through once. Even yakuza which is one of my favorite games.

ANYWAYS CANT TALK ABOUT OTHER GAMES!~
