    Healing advice V4S

    Hello!

I'm looking for some tips to share with my SCH/AST healing duo for this fight. I found this thread (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...cholars-on-O4S) that mainly covers SCH/WHM (really helpful btw).. But 10 pages in and only 2 results on reddit - I haven't found anything specific for AST.

Mainly just looking to give them some ideas about how to handle black/white holes better. I hear it's a bit easier for for WHM, but since we don't have a NIN or MCH we really need those balance cards.

    Any tips are appreciated

    Thanks!

Ast should be pre-casting aspected helios during black hole to land right as damage goes out, and immediately placing their earthly star behind ex death after the cast. The timing means that once the holy/flares go off and back to behind boss the star auto explodes for a ~15 k heal. I also use swiftcast to top everyone up a little before the holy stack right after the healer/tank fires go out in case not all 8 make it into the stack, and hard cast a single helios for the white hole. The sch can pre-cast succor for the initial damage, then use indom and emergency tactics succor for the white hole.

Edit: We don't have a sch anymore, but that's how we managed when we did have one. The ET succor is optional, and is basically to cover worst case scenario if you have dps or healers sub 5k hp before white hole. Ast may have to play around a little with the timing for star to get it just right, and the timing is slightly different in the two black hole phases.

Edit2: Also just took a peak at your logs from last night, your ast is is over-healing a ton before the first thunders go out. At most they should cast a single aspected benefic, the fairy can keep your hp above 1 until the thunder/holmgang. Earhtly star can be placed any time in the latter half of the thunder cast bar to auto detonate for white hole, and a single synastry benefic 2 + aspected benefic after thunder. No further healing should be required until fires have gone out the first time.

Deathgiver already gave you a good overview about the fight, but I'll add that Lightspeed is an absolute godsend to top people off during the first Black Hole. You can use it and cast Helios once the first Fire III go out, then again after the second one, then another before the Holy stack for plenty of safety. The Earthly Star detonation alone will bring people's HP up a lot so topping them off for White Hole is easy. Your SCH can also use Fey Covenant right as the BH hits for extra mitigation. Second BH is much easier due to the fact there's no damage going out outside of the Flares before White Hole.

One more general note, healing up the second white hole is a ton easier if your healers and casters use surecast before the knockback and melee use arm's length. The pld can cover your brd and use tempered will (first one only), and you can just onslaught back to exdeath. Just have to make sure the healers/rdm don't use anything besides insta-cast skills between activation and the actual knocback.

Yea that's what we've been trying to do. Still working out a lot of kinks but the healing is such an important aspect of the fight it seems like, so just trying to give them some tips for smoothing out the incoming damage. I heard something about surecast being a little goofy in this fight but afaik it hasn't been a problem for anyone in our group yet.

For Decisive Battle: SCH can place a Sacred Soil to mitigate both the knockback and Holy. Properly timed Succors are nice too. AST should get Aspected Helios out.

For Vacuum Wave into White Hole: SCH should prep a Largesse + Succor for Vacuum Wave. Alternatively can just Deployment Tactics although it is even more important that party use mitigation for later Meteor. AST should prep Aspected Helios before Vacuum Wave. AST can then use Collective Unconscious to shield Vacuum Wave. That should significantly reduce the amount of healing required to get party to full HP. If your party is really comfortable with White Hole, you can have the SCH use Indom to heal the party after the Flare damage instead of holding that for White Hole.

For Black Hole phase into Holy and White Hole: SCH can Succor before Black Hole and Rouse + Whispering Dawn. AST can Aspected Helios. For Holy, with the HoTs running, SCH can solo heal the party with Indom to survive Holy. AST should prep an Earthly Star for the White Hole beforehand.

2nd Black Hole is pretty much the same as 1st black hole. Hard part is coordinating proper Flare locations. Assign healers to 1 third of arena, tanks to another third of arena, and another third of the arena for DPS jobs to deal with Flare. That should make Flare placement less chaotic since a Flare is always on a tank, a healer, and one DPS player.

Meteor: Mitigation from every party member is important. Reprisal, Addle, Dismantle, and healer shields.

Also, it is important that healers are able to damage deal while doing mechanics. It may be difficult at first, but any help is good for beating Exdeath enrage. The key to healing and outputting enough damage is to value GCD efficiency to never fall behind on heals.

Oh ehm i usually largesse + helios ONCE in vaccum blade.
While my co hlr use Cure III ONCE. And we both precasts without surecast. And sprint to the middle and dish out most dps we can and precast shields and hots for BH. Also i deploy my earthly star in the middle.
