Storm Captain?

Hello, still kinda fresh here so discovering lots of new things. But my question is, I just got promoted to First Lieutenant with Maelstorm by doing the Squadron quests but now I have no idea how to go further.

I looked at the ranking and it says Storm Captain is next but the promotion npc says there are none available. Lot of google search results seem to be outdated too from previous patches from waaaaaay back so not much help, was hoping the forum could. Please tell me its not more squadron quests....

First lieutenant is as high as it goes right now, further ranks will be added in later patches.

But don't hold your breath for them. All the ranks except for First Lieutenant were in the game from launch. They didn't add First Lieutenant until midway through Heavensward - that's more than three years later! There's no telling how long it will be until we get the next rank.

It was more like 6 years later, give or take.
It's been the cap since 1.0.

We're hitting the point in the pre-established ranks where too many more promotions would require us to drop our adventuring ways and work at the GC full time.

That said, we may get our next rank soon as we may be forced to rank up for the adventuring squadron's eventual update that let's us take them into dungeons.
