I'd rather have them work on adding more things that have a greater repeatability value, and I don't mean something you clear once or twice on a weekly reset basis.

In general it's an interesting idea. Someone would come along and screw it up I'm sure to make it where it had to be taken out.

I figured the child would act like a tamagotchi just..without the downsides. But any storyline cutscenes would be funny.

You're in the middle of a raid and you get the pop up that your kid is sick or in trouble with the nanny and "Damnit kid I'm in the middle of saving the world right now"

Personally, I'd love for a system like this to be added - though I would not want it to be at all attached to the current housing system. Housing (Savage) is already bad enough as it is and nothing more needs to be added to something not everyone gets to participate in, and the Apartments system is not a good enough stand-in for the Airship/Chocobo/Gardening/Submersible system it isn't part of.

It needn't be a blood relation system, though that'd be pretty cool if it were. I'd also enjoy if it allowed crossbreeds since the content could have pre-rigged child models and outfits to allow it since the issue for crossbreeds is more of an issue for the WoL and our many, many assets. But an adoption system would be just as nice. It'd definitely add more to the game for me and of course I know it wouldn't be content that everyone would enjoy. But this is the case every time they add something new.

If Yoshi already said no to letting us take on appearances similar to Khloe and other child NPCs, I highly doubt he's going to let us adopt them.
