Can we get children?

There should be a system where married couples can either have or adopt children. It would be so cool! it'd bring a whole new level in to the marriage system; having a family is an important part in a marriage.

I'm not certain about the details, but maybe they could act as retrainers when they get about a certain age. They could start off as infants and grow up to a certain point over time. Any other ideas would be great!

Edit: I can see where having children would cause an issue. I didn't intend it to be something inappropriate in the game; merely something like the two parents decide to have a kid and a little bit later, poof! They have a child! Thank you for all your feedback.
Now I'm leaning more towards adoption. I do see that a lot of you know that this could be turned upside-down and have a lot of issues with it, but I think if they made it right, so that those issues could not even come up, like dressing the child up (maybe kids could only use pre-made sets of clothing so that no issues could come from that), then the system could possibly work out.
I didn't consider what would happen in the case of a divorce because I never really anticipate such happenings, but that's why I asked for more suggestions to help polish the idea.

Thank you all for your feedback, especially do those of you who are being polite and understanding on this matter. And for those of you who keep saying this is not Sims, please rethink what you're saying and what that really means. As someone has posted in here, we buy houses in this game, and that's something that's in simulators. And I'm sure that's not the only thing.

I can see something on the lines of it working out were we get an extra retrainer or something on those lines. We already get to train and level npc's and send them out to do quest's in our squads from the grand company and yes we can also count our retrainers since we can give them roles to gather mats and random loot wouldn't kill to give something to the married folk. It seems kind of sad that after doing the marriage quest you get a ring and outfit (mount if you buy the higher tiers). Would be kind of nice were we do a quest like light farming or gil farming to get an adoption document or the rings summon out a new born. But i do see some complication in it and hopefully we get something.

Only way this would work; and even then it's unlikely, is if they are untargetable. There exists an unfortunate group of people that would abuse this system for improper/lewd reasons that the Dev team wishes not to be associated with. I believe that much has been stated before.. or so I remember anyway.

This is not The Sims.

Ragnarok Online is not the Sims and still has that system. The difference here is that, instead of adopting an actual player, you'll be adopting an NPC. As for the idea, I'm neutral about it.

Why would you want this? This isn't Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, or Tomadachi Life. FFXIV isn't a life-sim.

What happens if you break the engagement of the rings, does this little NPC vanish? Do you both or one of you get saddled with them?

Plus, what would it do? Would you really want SE to deal with the implications of making the fake daughter/son NPC act just like a retainer? "Yes, I'll make this 8 year old looking NPC carry all my junk and go hunt monsters and call me Mommy."

Besides, are people so cheap yet so bad at inventory management that the idea of implied child labor to skirt around buying a new retainer, or, I dare say, cleaning out your stacks of materials and unused glamours, seems appealing?

Just thought I'd point out that, I do believe, you have taken my words out of context. When I mentioned how I wasn't certain about the details, I meant the details as a whole. Like what the children would do or if they could be helpful to the parents someway. I do realize you may have purposefully taken my words out of context (in which case I ask you not to do again), but I've decided to assume it was a mistake due to my poor wording.
