About tanking, well as you see the dps while tanking is fairly easy.
But you do have other things to Watch for as tank.
And you maybe have played warrior for awile and it comes naturaly that you know that class more then blm.
DPS in other hand we have to focus the our skills, roations, adjusting and alot of otimizing while Dodge mechnics on the bosses.
"yes i still see alot of people don't do this"
My tips sounds very dull but its simpel, practis, practis and even more practis.
Read some roations guides im pretty sure alot of blm players have tips and tricks what they do.
Noone is very good DPS with there class at begining, keep practise makes you perfect.
I start with dummie to learn openers and then try the timed dummies challange to see if able to beat it, then i try out them in dungeons / trails.
Just keep playing eventully you be master blm like many who playing it!
My bad like I said haven't really been keeping up with this game and said I wouldn't be surprised but lowkey evasiveness. Any way there is guides all over this forum for every dps class which you can ask questions and what not.

I mean I feel this is a personal thing for me I find tanking and healing harder because it's more situational. Dps is just memorization, okay aoe I hit these buttons, single target these buttons in this order. Other than that it's just paying attention to mechanics. Although I admit I've been having issues with blm myself... it's the only job gauge I just don't understand.

I feel for the OP. I struggle with DPS rotations too, and BLM was my first choice job, only to find myself a stumbling mess while playing it.
It's a different skill set than what's needed for healing or tanking. I won't put words into OPs mouth since I simply don't know them personally, but I feel that I'm in the very small minority of players that finds the methodologies of being a good (even average) Damage Dealer job player painful, difficult, and thusly unsatisfying to play compared to the ones employed by healers, and to a lesser extent, tanks.
So, just saying "gitgud" means nothing when despite following guides, knowing what the rotations are, and practicing, I feel like I'm teetering into a mild anxiety spell from the upkeep of precision required to frankly not suck.
It's not fun, but, because DPS so vastly overpopulate heals/tanks, it's not a common issue, nor one that players are encouraged to work through, unlike with tanking anxiety.

The missing link in FF14 trinity and I don't know if A: its there and we missed it or B: it isn't and they can't figure out how to implement it but Tank and Healer are a synergy. Dps doesn't have that. We decide what DPS we like more but it's based on raw info suggesting more HP wall, burning power. We never have and have never been given a reason to pair dps according to who works well together.

It probably just comes down to what "clicks" for you and what doesn't. Sounds like for you, WAR clicks. Some people are better at certain jobs than others, and some require practice. One doesn't simply pick up a job and they're a master, so maybe give it some time. With enough practice you could no doubt do well. Anyone and everyone is capable of this if they keep at it. Failing that, I'd experiment a bit more before you pass judgement on the dps role. Maybe there's another job that would suit you better.
