The answer is simple: OCPD, or wanting a "clean" looking profile.

It's like some people losing it when the pencils on their desk are misaligned, except probably a minor case.

This. As someone with diagnosed OCD, I can say that it irks me to no end that my profile is a mess while I'm leveling things and I really hated before they changed how jobs worked that arcanist sat at 15 and thm sat at 26 for me. Drove me nuts. Dx
But since you don't look at your own profit so often I learned to deal with it. But I could understand why someone would want it to be clean.
