    Most Active Servers?

    Hello everyone!

I've played for a little bit of time with a group of friends, but have recently taken interest in leading a squad within my gaming clan for this game. We started out on Sargatanas and discovered some struggles regarding activity for dungeons (queues would take ages), and recruitment for our Free Company. I'm trying to come up with a list of active servers that we could potentially move to and/or restart on so we aren't just a lonely bunch of people anymore! If any of you guys could provide some input of where we could go, I'd appreciate it greatly. Currently, we're looking to focus on the NA side of things for ping purposes..

    Thanks!

As far as I know, queues are across worlds, and possibly even across data centers within your region. Recruiting for FCs is harder. I know Balmung and Gilgamesh are always packed. I certainly don't recommend my own Adamantoise if you're looking for population, seeing as it must be one of the most dead worlds out there haha.

    Hey there,

You might want to look at this website to get rough numbers on world populations:

    https://ffxivcensus.com/

As you can see, Balmung, Gilgamesh, and Leviathan are the most populous worlds as of September 2017 in NA. Please keep in mind, however, that the numbers are estimate and only counted for players who have progressed far enough in MSQ (i.e. sprouts are overlooked in this census and veteran players who are on hiatus are included).

I'm pretty sure both Balmung and Gilgamesh are congested right now, so Leviathan might be your best bet (it happens to be my homeworld as well, hello there!). However if dungeon queue is your main concern, I don't think it really matters which world you're on because we only have 2 datacenters in NA; aether and primal. Both are roughly equal in terms of population.

Hopefully this information will help you and your friends in the decision-making. Good luck!

That page should help. Congested worlds will not allow you to create new characters or transfer existing ones to them.

And Duty/Party Finder are across your one data center. So Sargatanas already has all of Aether to draw from, including Balmung and Gilgamesh.

Here's a handy link for what worlds are part of what data center: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/

Also note that there are incentives for creating new characters on preferred or new worlds (EXP bonus, free subscription time, gil).

The thing is, outside of the behemoths like Balmung and Gilgamesh, Sargatanas is one of the more active NA servers. It is also one of the oldest as a "legacy" (1.0) which can be an advantage or disadvantage to new players. Moving to Levi would put you on the Primal datacenter but nothing I've heard suggests that their queue times are any faster than Aether's. I'm guessing if you are complaining about queue times your group doesn't have someone playing tank which is the real secret to fast queues although having a healer usually cuts 50% to 75% off of the usual queue times.

As far as recruitment for your FC goes if most of the other players in your FC are also lower level (sub 70) you are probably going to have a bit of a hard time recruiting on any server since I doubt your FC has built up enough recourses to offer the things that most veteran players will look for in a FC like housing, higher level daily buffs, raid groups or other high level activities. Transfering would require you to start some of this over from scratch as well. Specifically, how are you trying to recruit people? Are you looking for a certain type or level of player? If you are looking mostly to recruit newer players like yourself, moving to one of the preferred servers might be better. How many active players would you consider "enough"? Keep in mind endgame in FFXIV usually only requires 8 players max (if endgame is a goal for your FC). What are the leadership's goals for the FC?

You might have more success trying to build a social linkshell first while leveling (or joining one) in order to build up some relationships with other players and get a feel for groups in this game. Many of the the FC's in this game tend to be smaller (b/c of the small groups needed for most endgame as well as the trust and resources needed for the housing system) but it isn't unusual for several FCs or just individual's to come together to form large social linkshells to supplement their FC's.
