Lore question: Shishui of the Violet Tides

I never quite found out why we had to kill the princess in the dungeon. I vaguely remember the questgiver specifically asking us to not kill her.

I felt kinda bad we killed her then never went back to face the questgiver again, supposedly because we failed and now I cannot look him straight in the face, eye to eye, anymore.

Because this instance wasn't a requirement for the MSQ, I left it alone until I was quite a few levels over it.But I did do some of the fetch-gather quests from the undersea bubble and I don't remember any of them having to do with Shishui and the princess. Could someone please explain to me what happened in that whole quest arc?

Uhh what? There should be a whole little questchain following the dungeon about notDevola & notPopola with some clear references to the Japanese fairy tale Urashima Taro

Uh. We...don't kill her. If you follow the questchain, you find out that all we do is incapacitate her before heading out to defeat the thing controlling her, with the follow up quests just being ones that bring her back to consciousness.

the Princess is the 2nd boss, she was mind-controlled by the last boss, so you had no choice but to fight her first before you can get to the last boss.

like everyone else said though, we didn't kill her, it's the first of a 5 quest chain, the second part is called Fathoms Below.

She doesn't get killed. There is a bit of chat that happens right after you knock her out(just wait near the middle of the arena when you finish that fight), and you will see the girl that gives you access to the dungeon come in. Then be sure to go back to the Au Ra village, and there is a quest chain to help explain things/progress that side story(it's a fairly nice story to be honest).

Yeah, you knocked her out and cleared the palace of the evil that had found its way in. The quest givers have more to say(as was mentioned, a couple more quests to go on) to wrap up the story. No one else in the village mentions Shisui or the princess, because no one else knows that there was a problem. The quest giver was keeping it a secret while trying to find a solution, which you happened to be capable of providing.
