Why am I still having to use a Ping service to play your game?

I know you guys posted the giant megathread about working on the routing for different ISPs to your new data centers on the West Coast, but I'm yet to see anything come from it nor have we been given any updates since.

Having to use a ping service just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We're already having to deal with the 3 second server tick you refuse to get rid of, and now a good chunk of your NA playerbase is dealing with double or triple the ping they are used to after the move. Sure, I have less packet loss, but I also have 150 ping without a VPN so it doesn't really feel like much of a difference.

Any chance we could get some updates on the current outlook on the talks with the ISPs...or any updates at all about working with us to get better pings?

The server location tick is every 0.3 seconds. Not 3 seconds. That's also only for general maps and not for instances, per older patch notes. I'm not really sure where you're getting a 3 second server tick unless you think your DoTs tick at the same interval as your movement is sent to/from the server. (They're separate btw. They might even be handled by different servers.)

I'd also love to see proof of the player base having double or triple the ping. I suppose if they went from a negligible value to another negligible value, it'd be doable like 30ms to 90ms, but both of those would honestly play the game just fine when they balance gameplay and mechanics to be handled with a latency of up to 200ms. (That's 2 seconds). The packet loss, or rather, delayed packets because this game uses TCP was a bigger issue. Like seeing sending/receiving going 0 or having everything freeze only to get delivered in a burst and find out what mechanics hit me because the animations were delayed on their way to my client.

I haven't checked if you posted in their designated megathread with a traceroute, but if you haven't, I'd recommend that. It's also important to know which country you live in/your ISP and which datacenter you're trying to connect to. Some are better than others. Or for anyone else having issues. (Like being in NA but connecting to a JP or EU server, or other combinations.)

There's also a high likelihood that if the connect is really that bad, it's on the ISP's end, the routing path is absolutely terrible, or they aren't on playing on the best geographically located datacenter.

^ that and iirc the goal wasn't to improve pings from specific area but to reduce the difference between players.
This isn't a LAN game or an unpolished mmo, you are doing fine if you already have their 200ms requirement.

I'd love to have that kind of ping without a VPN. I sit at like 160-170 with a VPN to EU servers from Qatar.

Baby, tell me, what's your motive?

    That's definitely not 2 seconds. 200ms = 0.2s.

That being said, I'm clearing savage at 230ms. OP needs to get good.

That is my game experience right now after the last patch lol.

You're right. I was off by a zero. It's what I get for not checking my post.

The gameplay does degrade past 200ms though, so I could see that as an issue, but even then, plenty of people are still doing it like all the EU players on Balmung.

I'm past 220ms as well so i have to pay for a tunnel, the whole South America is probably above 200ms and I didn't had this kind of ping in other mmos like World of Warcraft for example.

If you look at the submarine cable map you'll notice that they made a really bad decision when choosing the server location related to be able to cover as many countries as possible. This location is just good for a part of US and eastern countries that already had their own servers.

But yeah they won't change server location or at least move one of the datacenters to the other side of the country, so we either pay for tunnel or give up on the game =/

Qatars ping is around 160-170 without VPN service.
I'm getting between 120 - 140 with VPN (Using battleping).
