Questions about possible timing of future recipes

Ok, first up, I want to point out that I started just before Heavensward came out so I was late to leveling crafting. I eventually got my crafting up to 60 around 3.5. This meant that I didn't catch what released when during Heavensward. All I knew was that Ironworks was released either 3.3 or 3.4.

So my first question is if Stormblood follows similar release of recipes to Heavensward, when do you think 2-star and 3-star crafting/gathering gear recipes will be released?

Secondly, what do you think will be the melding stratagy will be when the 2-star gear is released? Wait for 3-star battle gear to be released and meld for that or meld willy-nilly before then? Or guess what the 3-star stat requirements be (ie: based on the 2-star and 3-star stat requirements for level 60 gear, I estimated that 3-star could require 1600 Craftmanship and 1477 Control.)

We already have 2 star gear right now, you have to buy masterbook 5 at level 70 with red scrips in rhalgr's reach. As for 3 star, the new recipes usually are added at the same time as the omega savage raid. Crafting endgame right now only requires you to meld the white level 70 crafter omni set to be able to make everything including 2 star recipes (yellow scrip gear is actually inferior to a fully melded white omni-set). Melding simply involves reaching whatever the stat requirement is for being able to make the highest star recipes available and having enough CP to do a rotation that allows you to reliably HQ everything (currently around 470 before food).

You likely won't be able to reach 3 star stat requirements with currently available gear. However, there is not 2 star crafting gear in the game yet either, so my guess is the next tier of crafter gear will be 2 star and you can make it with current 2 star rotations/gear. That gear set will need to be melded in order to reach 3 star requirements. So in other words the best thing you can do right now to prepare is just make sure you can make the gear that is already available in the game. After that just stockpile materia because you'll need it for the next tier (patch 4.2)

If it follows pattern and there is no reason to believe it won't, we will get a a crafted version of the current yellow scrip gear when Master Book VI comes and we get 3 and 4 star stuff. (we have 1 and 2 star now)

The Crafted version will be slightly better than the Yellow scrip version but only if you meld it. We will also see an Augmented version of the current yellow scrip and it will be better than even the HQ crafted version but we will also get one or more Omni sets that will end up being BiS and 4 star. In ARR it was the Artisan Set. In HW it was the Iron Works.

The real questions will be, what will be required to get the mats and the parts for these new sets and maybe introduction of new elements like fieldcraft demimateria IV or something. We can be sure the sets we have now, 290 or yellow scrip won't be able to make the newer sets. Though through pattern you will want the current yellow scrip stuff to get an Augmented version assuming you have no desire to craft the newer stuff or plan to use that to do so.

tl:dr It comes down to what the new caps are going to be because pattern has shown the 4 star set will be like making level 78 gear with 70. ARR Artisan was on par with 58, HW Iron Works was on par with 68.

Add On: We are likely to see new Beast tribes around the same time as the new crafting and they will be tied together.

Yea I can make current 2-star gear (just finished the last of the melding a few days ago). Just trying to plan ahead since when I finally got all of my crafters to 60 in 3.5, Ironworks was already out (with a "cheap" way to gear for it). But I'm on the other end where I DON'T know what to expect.

You are in "better" shape than me. I'm in low to no meld 290, having only enough CP to get me to 400 with no food. I can't make 1 star let alone 2.

Most of my problem, as usual is I am stalling on MSQ. At Bardam's Mettle right now and that restricts my ability to gather. Even though I have them all capped. I had the same issue in HW. I never saw Azys Lla until after Stormblood came out. The difference this time, I might actually end up with a full augmented Weaver set before the next expansion. Assuming another game doesn't catch the corner of my eye and I don't leave again.

Major point here, we are too early in to 4.0 cycle to do anything but speculate.

I wouldn't go ahead and make any speculation throughout any point in the expansion with crafting. It's nice to have the foresight of what to expect and when to expect it. E.g. When the crafted versions of the yellow scrip gear will come out. Which will probably be in the duration of 4.1 patch-line. It actually differs from Heavensward as we got the red scrip gear, and the equivalent of it on Patch 3.05 (Hyperlink)

If you want to prepare, just know that the next set is without a doubt the yellow-scrip gear equivalent, and that it's going to require melding to reach the next set of crafted stuff (3*?). Going to require a metric tonne of materia.

For best bets, just stock up on materia until that time comes, through spiritbonding, or just grinding red scrips, or both. Keep it spare for when you know the melding requirements, then the amount you need to spend is reduced. Then meld on the day it's released.

In between that time you can either do temporary melds on the gear, like CP etc, etc. Or just stick with your old gear and store the yellow scrip equivalent for when you permanently meld.

The Crafted version will be slightly better than the Yellow scrip version but only if you meld it.
Actually SB is already in a completely different position than the two previous cycles. Currently, the i290 white set fills the role that would normally be filled by the crafted version of the i300 scrip gear. It's 10 levels lower with slightly lower base stats, but when melded is better. If they were to add a new crafted set of crafter gear for this tier, it would have to be higher ilevel than the current i300 scrip gear, which has never happened. Also, the scrip gear is usually undyeable and the crafted version dyeable, but this time the scrip set is dyeable, which leads me to believe there simply won't be a crafted "blue" version of this tier at all. Which is odd, but here we are.
