Windowed mode /thread
This thread clearly demonstrates why alt+tab will never be fixed.
If SE bans me for using an external program that enables me to have a feature that even the lowest quality f2p game out there has out of the box, well, it's their loss.
edit: Well, looks like at least it was forwarded to the devs or something: click
Whatever might come out of it...

Yes!!! I'm glad this issue is finally getting some attention. It's never even been acknowledged until now.edit: Well, looks like at least it was forwarded to the devs or something: click

Not being able to alt+tab out of full screen is horribly annoying. Given the fact it's basically a game standard now, it's something I find myself doing out of habit and crashing the game because I always play in fullscreen. Windowed mode's reduced framerate is noticeable on my rig, plus I can't stand the fact that the titlebar pushes a small bit of the bottom of the game off my screen.
With few in-game tutorials and a lack of recipe book, this game leaves you with little alternative but to look for the information needed to play it on the Lodestone and 3rd party websites. As such, the idea that I should have a laptop or my Blackberry at the ready so I can do so is ridiculous. I wouldn't suggest the equally ridiculous notion that SE supply me with extra hardware. But allowing me to alt+tab out of the game so I can get to my web browser is an essential tool.
During the old days of FFXI before windowed mode was implemented and smartphones didn't exist, I had to look up everything on an archaic gimp laptop running Windows 98. That just really brings back bad memories.

What about an in-game browser? Maybe limit the links to your account for adding options, The Lodestone, FFXIV Forums, and FFXIV Wiki. That might alleviate the need for Alt+Tab.
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
Please,fix this.
My friend wont come back to the game if they don't fix it,he only has 1 computer,he hates windowed mode and needs to check recipes on yg all the time.

For all the guys saying "windowed game" "autohotkey" ecc, i know exist, i use it. But still, the script for hiding boorders mean it's a fake fullscreen. It have the same performance of regular windowed mode. Try a game in true fullscreen and you'll see better performance. That's why alt+tab in fullscreen it's a welcome feature (and don't really open a window for botting since there's already windowed mode...)
run it though steam and still be able look thing up online

I personally play everything i can in window, as i dualscreen and i usually watch a movie while playing game <_< or have 2 gazilion browsers open on other screen. fulscreen alt-tab would be nice. that and annoying "cannot find diretx device " error when using anything ele that jumps to full screen
i dont know if anyone has said this yet, but if you run the game through Steam, it runs at full screen resolution and you can shift+tab to open their web browser, and ffxiv doesn't crash. Although, I agree 100% that they need to fix this and add an alt tab, this is a semi good work around in the meantime.
Fix this issue already, Square "Fail" Enix.
