While we probably all agree that FFXIV is a fantastic game it still has its flaws. Of course it is subjective what someone likes and dislikes about the game, there are some issues that come up over and over and over again. I tried to gather them all and come up with a solution to all of them.
Inventory
The classic. We got an inventory upgrade with Stormblood and 4.1 will give us even more free inventory space. But on the off chance it won't be enough here is something extra:
Cut the key item tab in half. I mean, I doubt anyone got even close to filling it. All that space could be used for more regular inventory space. Or make a potion/consumable tab.
Another thing that could be useful is to put new cards, orchestrion rolls, mount, bardings and pets immediately into their catalogue and just skip the step where it fills an inventory slot. This way you could loot them even if you are at full capacity.
Glamour
The other classic. Now we all know that the WoW style transmog log is impossible to replicate as that would be far too much data to manage. Yoshie-P said as much. Instead let's do something similar to what SWTOR does.
Make an armory for glamour. A separate tab where you select glamour for your inventory tabs. Wouldn't that be too much? Well not really. I mean only the appearance data has to be saved in the glmaour armory. Besides it does not need to be the same size. It is unlikely that anyone needs two ring glamours for each class. And even for weapons and armor one slot for each class is more than enough. Plus if the glamour is applied to the inventory slot instead of the item, you don't have to glamour your gear every time something better drops.
Housing
The eternal conflict. Never enough housing space for everyone. The only solution would be to make housing instanced, but SE wants to keep neighbourhoods around. And I can't really fault them for that. One of my fondest memories from the game is when we had a picnic in our housing ward after and FC wedding. So what should be done to those who can't even get an appartment?
Give us our own Grand Company ships. Our customizable base of operation. A mix of the company barracks and a fast travel point between ports with a captain's quarters. It doesn't need to be cheaper than appartments or even small houses for that matter. The important thing is to make it available to everyone. And like any good system, it can be built upon later.
Gearing
While tomestones do solve the problem of RNG they also bring their own problems. Namely that you essentially have to replace all your gear each patch. Or if you are good enough to clear the hardest content and get the best gear (not me) next patch let's people get equally strong gear with a few daily dungeon runs. So what should be done?
Make tomestones get you only half of a full gear set. One patch you replace all your armor but keep your weapon and adccesories. Next patch you get the weapon and accesories. If you got your self a full set of gear in one patch you can be assured that it will be the best for two patches, making it worth the effort.
Talents
Our stats are no longer customizable. Role actions are the only way to make one player truly different. But even with role actions there is a "right way'. Talents are pointless if there is only one good way to pick them and it would just make people exclude others from parties. So what can be done for those who like customization options?
Give us talents that change how abilities look. Real yellow lightning. Blue/purple/green fire. Have the ninja throw small shurikens or cards instead of knives. Turn hide into sylphic magic.
Viera
Yes, we are going to talk about that. Let's face it. It will be requested untill it eventually happens. So might as well get it over with. There are two problems with viera.
The first is the feet. And the solution is simple. Don't show shoes on Viera. SWTOR does this to Torgruta. No matter what head item you equip it is not shown on your character. The same could be done with Viera.
The second is that some people would rather have a more beast like race than another human with animal parts. The best way to solve it is to have a Viera tribe that looks very different. Here is my headcanon:
Originally the Viera looked like roughly Lalafell sized humanoid rabbits. While fleeing Mysidia, their ancient home, to the nearby forests a number of them followed humming voices back into civilization. They became the Hummingway Viera. Those who stayed in the forest gradually evolved into tall agile hunters to better suit their new lives.
Aaaand done. Hope I'm not completely crazy.
