Gear Up Progression

Hi Guys,

So I just get into the HW area, and I realized that now there are plenty of gear available until lvl 70.

Currently my main is fully equipped with Ironworks set iLvl 120, and I'm sitting at lvl 57.
And as the title suggest, I'm confused with which set to go after this?

I've read the database lately and found there are 3 options that I can go, the Yasha set (iLvl 170), Antiquated Set (iLvl 200), or Shire Set (iLvl260).

I dont really like the idea of grinding dungeon to get a full set, thus I choose sets that can be bought using Tomestones or Centurio Seals.

What would be the best option to go with, and be prepared for Stormblood?

the shire one is on tomestones at idyllshire. the lower ones you mentioned are at the forgotten knight in ishgard foundation for centurio seals. none take long to get so you'll get the shire stuff. for additional tomestones they upgrade to the augmented 270 set too. leveling gear doesn't go higher than item level 270 until you are level 64 so this stuff lasts a while.

Shire set would be your best bet since you are likely collecting poetic tomes in your daily roulettes anyway.

Also, when you finish the lv 60 job quests, you get the antiquated set for that job anyway. I am not 100% sure on the name, but I believe it is the set you get with centurion seals (190? 200?). These are really strictly for glamour at this point.

I didn't know that the ilvl 200 will be a quest gift.. Good that I didn't spend anything on those yet.. cheers guys!

As I understand it, MSQ should be rewarding better gear for you at your level. While your Ironworks could've been upgraded to i130 in North Shroud, past level 55 quests you probably ought to be trading up anyway.

So far the MSQ gave ilvl gears < my current ironworks set. So rather than spending the tomestones to upgrade to the augmented, I rather have a big jump to shire?
But I'm not sure if I can survive the heavensward MSQ until I arrive at Idlyshire with ilvl 120??

The upgrade to i130 augmented Ironworks is cheap now iirc, but you can probably stick it out until lv60 and switch to shire gear then.

In addition to dungeon drops, sidequests in heavensward and stormblood also give hq leveling gear, which is nice.

The Shire gear is for level 60. I mean, sure, I guess you could go from 50 to 60 in nothing but i120 Ironworks gear. But you're gonna basically be getting carried by the end, I would imagine.

I'm new myself, and I'm still trying to figure out how best to obtain gear. I had a few pieces of Ironworks gear for the majority of the content between ARR and Heavensward. I'm Lv 56 now and about to do the Ravana trial later today, and I ended up picking up a few pieces of ilvl 139 gear from the Ishgard vendors. I probably don't want to make a habit of getting gear from regular shops, based on my understanding though. I also understand dungeons are supposed to drop better gear, but I have not seen this yet, and MSQ reward gear has only gotten up to about ilvl 115 for me so far. So should I be working more on tomestones? Also, how do you start collecting Centurio seals?
