Maybe a way to get sub days added to account for those in the hurricane?

Hi, I'll make this short and to the point as someone suggested. I'm in Florida, as many of the people around here have been without power for a whole week because of the hurricane... Is there a way you could submit some form of claim to get days added to your account considering people have had no way to play even if they wanted to? I understand if it was my choice and I wasn't able to pay rent or I chose not to play, but when over half the state loses it's power or internet for a week, we can't help but watch our sub waste away(but we can't even watch it cuz we can't login without power/wifi). Or ya know, some way to get your money back or days added so it doesn't feel like you just had a week wasted doing nothing?

    Thoughts?

They already halted the Demo process on houses due to the fires and hurricane. They were kind enough to do that. Don't push your luck, especially since I don't think they even reimbursed people affected by the tsunami a few years ago and that had much more devastation behind it.

The house demolitions were halted..I think that is enough. Let's not try to push too much.

It would be nice, but I don't think it will happen.

Because unlike housing demo... there was no precedent to this. If they did it now, the JP players will probably cry foul of bias.
Besides SE trying sort out players really affected by the situation will be such a mess, it would be beyond even any of the most powerful game studios

I'd have to go with the crowd saying dont push your luck.
Housing demolition was halted, likely due to the notable ammount of support to the idea, but having sub days added to your account for free is something SE would loose money on, and it's kinda hard to prove that you're affected to begin with in such a manner where you cant log in due to massive, and long lasting power blackouts,

Plus as mentioned, I dont recall them having reimbursed people in the past who were affected by natural disasters, so there's not really a precedent for this either, unlike the housing demolition, which they've suspended before

You can try, and if Square Enix agrees to add a few days to it, then they get some good will. But they are under no obligation to give any form of "compensation" no matter how you look at it. Natural disasters are almost always excluded from compensation in regular commercial contracts.

Wow I had no idea. That sucks... I mean the housing demo thing is nice for ya know... people that have houses (Balmonger here), just seems like for situations like these that they should consider doing something all around for the populace. That's a damn shame though, it's nice they did that but at the same time it's a shame.

SE is not FEMA. They have no obligation to provide players with anything in this situation. Any gesture is either goodwill or corporate PR with the ultimate goal of earning and retaining players.

What is the next request? "Oh the players have lost so much. Let us give them a $50 voucher for Mog Station"?

Also, "but at the same time it is a bit of shame..."? Do I sense a bit of guilt-tripping?

It's one thing to halt demo timers. That brings peace of mind to a small segment of the population at no cost. It is the perfect 'nice gesture'.

Asking for sub time is hugely problematic for a couple of reasons.

1)As was brought up in the demo timer thread, where do you draw the line on tragedy? Because if they hand out free sub time they're establishing a dangerous precedent that they'll be encouraged to follow later.
2)Sub time has monetary value. Asking a company for things of value goes beyond 'nice gesture' in to actual 'donation' territory. If SE wanted to make a donation to disaster relief, there are far better ways to do it than something like sub time.
3)Sorting the accounts. It would be impossible to figure out who is affected and who isn't. How many people spoof their IPs? Use a VPN or similar service? How many people would do the reverse to attempt to gain something for free?

Honestly, this is one of those times you just have to cut your losses.
