Opinions for a status quo comparison? (smn build) :o

    Heya,

after reading a lot of statweight analyzing threads on reddit after the SB release im currently still running a dh > crit build.

But i'm not up2date if we talk bout any new statweight insights lately. I was just wondering if crit > dh or even dh > det > crit would work any better...
I got a chat with fc members yesterday about both alternatives... but the opinions of all 3 builds wasn't that clear in the end -
so I just decided to ask the community... is there anybody out there who already have experience with a non-crit but dh > det build so far?

stats below are on ilvl 333 without food - (mix of tomb & savage gear / no pentamelts).

so what do u think should I go with this tier? (currently in o4s progress... q.q )

any opinions in mind? are there any (soft-) caps known for ss and/or det yet? ^^

    so long

If damage density is uniform :
    CRIT > DH = DET > SS
Now how does that transcribe in reality ? That depends of many factors : SS improves dots but also lowers ressources faster, damage density on SMN is not uniform but spiky. However it has very long boring homogenous moments thanks to clunkiness…
As for caps, well I don’t know them but :
+ 109 crit is +1% chance and +1% damage on the crit
    + 40 DH is +1% chance
    +166 DET is +1% damage
    +66.5 SS is -0.01 s on GCD.
All start at 364 except det at 292.
So for a 2.40 sec GCD according to those formulas you need 1029 SS but there is no particular reason to aim for a 2.40 GCD.

PS : Also I don’t understand why your build “CRIT > DH” still has 2000+ DH and only 1400 crit

thats just cause of the high base dh and ss of the current caster gear (all three variations have the same gear parts just the melts are different) - like I said those numbers are without pentalmelts/green crafter gear. Everything started as my fc replaced me for a weekly with another smn (cause I was off for overhours) - that guy was full dh > det and actually got a really good parse for that run. So the value of det in generell was discussed afterwards. I just wonder if someone else goes with dh/det without crit and could say something bout that way to skill.

I am aware of the first theses around crit/dh; the combined amount of 3500 etc. Also that crit increases with itselfs amount while det/dh are liniear. But like you said theory and reality are two pair of shoes so yeah... maybe someone has experience with different stats or tried different builds on his/her smn as well. Im on ps4 so I can't parse that easy myself and my overhours currently break my motivation to calc those variations on a dummy with pen & paper ^^'

yeah but thanks for your answer anyway - at least the ss data was new for me thx for that :3

Just one good parse... Maybe it's the melds, have you checked your respective pps (if he is at 170 and you 150...) ? Other team buffs (what if your astro had luck and balance uptime was off the charts, maybe your ninja trick attacks were timed on his Bahamut etc...) ?

Also, check the value of minimal hit (without DH or CRIT) : if he is 10% higher already at that point, discrepancies in DH between you and him have little to do with the difference in your performance
Btw you can also see it like that :
DH is a (DH-364)/40 % chance to make 25% more damage
Det is a 100% chance to make (det-292)/167 % more damage

But I assure you : crit is already interesting now.

But that's only formulas and calculus. Best way if you're either rich or have a tank class and a lot of courage : take your stuff. Full it with crit melds, do 30 dummy tests (V4S or 3-4 min parse). Unmeld it, full it with DH, and so on. You'll
