yes you could use all the spells. Problem is most didn't because they were not needed and pretty much useless. Just like 90% of bard songs.

Hrm, then again, that might explain why I was such a bad WHM. . .I saw many whms cast bar spells on normal fights, tons of em used Aquaveil as well >.>; If we were fighting a certain type of mob they would cast that bar on us, made the fights easier. There was a purpose for each spell in FFXI, also good whms used na spells all the time.
No, surely not. . .
I never said you were ^.^ a bad whm. Nor was trying to imply it. Also whats wrong with having more stuff?
Because it is a wasted effort of SE to put in spells we will never use or need.
just like it was a wasted effort to pull out the spells that were used all the time? to remove stuff needed is just as bad as adding things not needed. both methods wasted development time that could have been used on more pressing matters.

Stop posting your opinion.
Wasted effort? SE should add more depth to this shallow battle that consists of dancing around your target or in mages case, casting the same damn spells. They should add more spells and place an importance on their usage.
All I see is hurr.
You guys are asking SE to do something they don't want to do. They dropped most the spells for a reason. It was their choice to do so. Putting all these spells back in will require them to once again change the entire system. They made their decision when They decided to remove most of the spells and need to stick with it for now. As jobs come out and level caps increases yes add more spells. but for now we are fine.
Its the same thing over and over people ask for something SE does it then people complain to have it changed back. Do you honestly think it will be any different here?
Ok lets put in 50 spells like whm had in XI. with the action bar and everything most of the spells will not be used. For them to make all the spells useful they would have to remove the action bar which once again will change the entire system.
everything is limited by the stupid action bar they put in and unless that changes the Idea of adding a ton of spells won't fit the system.
Edit: simply adding 50 spells while still only being able to use 15 at a time seems rather pointless to me.

The reason being is the fights are way short. I never hardly use fire, they should take it out!~ You can't even use it during ifrit! Why even use fire when you can one shot most mobs with thunder combo? Pointless argument is pointless! Let's just stick with one spell thunder, don't add anymore eh?
OOOOH and sacrifice was never used AT ALL EVER NNOPE NEVER!

you don't understand. To put the spells back in they would have to put jobs on hold for now and spend time making and balancing the new spells. changing battles to make the new spells worth something. change the action bar to allow more slots. knowing SE change other jobs and give them more abilities. then finally do the same to jobs. Meaning they would have to change the entire battle system once again. Its not a simple as just throwing them together in putting them in the game.
Edit: With payment in 4 days. Coming out and remaking the battle system would be a good way to kill whats left of the game
