Server Time Standerized

Dear SE,

Please update the Server times so that it is universal for all the players on that same server.

It makes no sense that the Server time on Cerberus changes depending on where i am located, we have Eorzea Time, and Local Time, Server Time in the Middle East is different from the Server Time in Europe, it makes no sense.

Cerberus is an EU Server so for the time to update everywhere else makes complete logical sense. How can 1 server have 3 different times..

Please for the love of Logic fix this.

I thought the server time was always set to GMT, no matter where you are. (Also no matter where the servers are, since NA servers use GMT, or did last I heard.)

If it only was that simple.....

Server time shown is based on the local time on your computer adjusted for timezone differences. If the game gets your timezone wrong, then the time shown will also be wrong. Daylight Saving Time can also mess things up.

Yes, this is a weird and backwards way of handling server time, and I have no idea why they would do it that way instead of just using GMT/UTC or some other fixed timezone.

Server Time here is so stupid, it makes things hard for some parties. When they say 7pm ST, but your ST and there ST is totally different, I usually ask the people what is your current time and server time. Then I work it out after that for the party start time etc.

This has been a thing since ARR released and even earlier. Best to not look at ST at all, and work with local times and use world-clock on the internet to work out the times of others if you are using it for raid times etc.

You are asking SE to fix your PC bad time settings?

I'd better tell your friends to make appropriate changes to their PC time settings. Then, with today's network time protocol embedded in windows 10 internals, to make a bad timezone you really need do it on purpose.

The whole point of having a "server time" is to show what time the server's clock says it is. It shouldn't be looking at your own PC's or console's clock at all. We have local time for that.
