What is a 'bad player'?

I do ask around about the people i am inviting to see if they do not completely suck does that make me a bad person? I like to have fun and do things and figure them out. I am not the type to just say hey you suck but when people get a rep as being a bad player i just do not like to invite those people.

no this does not make you a bad person. the only thing i really do different than you is i give that "bad player" a shot first before i don't invite them in the future. i've met quite a few people early on that were "bad players" that actually turned out to be "good players" because a few of us took the time and showed them a few things.

to me the difference between a bad and an unskilled player is large. a bad player can be anything from someone that will not take advice to someone that just doesn't care, but an unskilled player is just someone that can be a good player and just needs help to make that transition. i'll take the unskilled player any day in a party i am in as long as they are willing to take advice.

i admit though i do get annoyed when someone makes the same mistake over and over because they can't take advice, but that is my own issue.

You just MPK'd people. You didn't actually count as a person to anything. Back then, you didn't just use taunt and you know it. You spam job abilities to tank. Excuse me while you used 10+ job abilities before you would WS, stand in front of mages so that before we could move, we would either get petrified or instantly breath attacked. You are the reason people stopped wanting to go. You are also the reason why mages would constantly move away from you.

Your reputation on the server is garbage. I'm happy that you aren't paying for the game. Good riddance. And please call my reputation on the server to question. I would love to continue this argument with you.

Don't let those types of people ever get to you to even be anywhere near tears. Hold your head up high and enjoy the video game. As long as you are open to take in criticism/advice that will help you improve in the long run, then you should be fine. The next time I see you on the verge of crying on the forums I will tickle your knee. And trust me no one wants that. On another note why does someone want it to be 2013 now, we just hit 2012?

a bad player imo is someone who simply can't play the game. Some improve and some don't. Doesn't bother me either way if they are nice and ask for tips etc

Sorry you were exposed to a jerk like that. Trust me, he won't have to many friends in this game if he keeps going that route.

And in regards to moogle/ifrit those are two different battles, thm actually is good in ifrit. And during moogle, they are especially good for binding and croud controll. Put the jerk on the ignore list.

@ OP: Bad players are pretty much those who devalue the game for those around them without reason, respect/courtesy, and/or explanation. The reason could even be downright absurd but if given respectfully they wouldn't be a "bad player."

Unskilled players are a different story altogether. People reserve the right to request to play on their own terms. At the same time, those terms should not dictate the group, rather actions on their own initiative. While it isn't "wrong" to say that you only desire to play with skilled individuals it is wrong to leverage that belief in order to exclude others who were already present. It would be different if they stated that they didn't feel the group would perform without naming specific people or if they had made the party themselves.

I did this sometimes for Ifrit (same server, too) but made sure my /sh were for experienced players and asked via /t if they had won consistently. Again, these were for groups that I built myself. And if joining groups with inexperienced players I generally will leave after 3 straight losses without making a scene. That's the right way to do what the individual did to you. Sorry you had a bad experience.

At the same time, you also have to remember that a lot of people are up over 200 wins now are trying for a final weapon and rightfully frustrated so that may be some of the reason for the behavior. Again, the principle is fine but the behavior is not.
