Everyone that offers consoles isn't helping either because that person might holds some truth that OP was performing poorly, we do not know the story from the other side, so it's better to not judge either OP or the other guy.

I think him being an ass should be a motivation for you to get better instead of coming here, telling everyone he is an ass and made you cry. Shows him that you are a good and capable player by beating the contents, moogle has been around for weeks, there are a lot of videos lying around that can shows you a lot of perspectives from different classes, there are also a lot of discussions/tutorials.

I am fond believer that player that can take criticism well is the one that will be the best players around.

I understand that both sides should be heard but I don't want to start pointing fingers so I didn't mention any names. (I am also a strong believer in being polite)

However, I don't think anyone being an ass should be motivation to anything tbh.
I think if something is bothering you, you should tell the person what is bothering you and not start calling them names and acting like a jerk.
And why shouldn't I come tell my story on the forums? Isn't this a place where we share our feelings about the game and the community?
Maybe someone might read this and think about giving constructive critisism next time rather than being an ass? I dunno... I think talking about things in our mind is always better than not talking at all.

But the difference between constructive criticism and vague negative criticism.

Based on the OP, the OP did not walk away with, "What can I do to improve myself to avoid this situation from happening again?", but flustered beyond belief. If criticism is presented poorly, it's useless.

Vague:
"You're not doing enough damage."
possible evaluations: Update equipment? Using combos? Buffed up? Level difference? Using elemental weakness(es)? Holding back to conserve TP/MP? etc.

Vague and negative:
"You suck."
Why?
"Not my job to tell you why you suck. You just do."

@OP: Blacklist the guy for now. Don't hold it against their affiliated linkshell(s). Try to move on. Don't worry about looking up videos/walkthrus to see how to beat these encounters, take it at your own pace, and most importantly, have fun with it.

I'm sorry but i have to disagree, Do you remember you are playing with the other 7 people? does taking at your own pace means you have to keep sucking when you can clearly improves better but choose not to? You taking at your own pace is a hindrance for another 7 people you play with.

You know what happened when you are a hindrance? nobody invites you to stuff and then you will ends up whining that this game doesn't have anyone to do stuff with.

This isn't offline game and shouldn't be treated as one, you are playing with another person, and you should take that into your consideration. Feel free to find the people that have the same way of playing as you, but you have no right to whines when you can't find the exact same people that approves the way you take this game.

A good player is someone who can be taught and willing to learn and/or self educate themselves.

A bad player is someone who either doesn't take the time or refuses to learn how to play the game or any jobs/content in it.

and A great player is the ones that can teach others that are willing to learn. They do the test and make the strats. simplely understand most if not all the game mechanics.

Hi Mamba, I am very new and I usually just lurk but I just wanted to say that although this may be criticism you CAN take, it is not good constructive criticism. No one should have the right to be mean to anyone else. This is a game and everyone is playing to have fun. If anyone's idea of having fun is being mean to others, then they are misguided. I mean, who wants to play a game in which they are going to be hurt and belittled by other. No one does I am sure. Even the mean guy you're talking about would feel bad if what he did to you was done to him in return. So no, that is not good criticism at all.

A good player is like a teacher. She/he is patient and understanding and if they have anything to say at all, it is to be instructive, informative and kind. Like my dad says, if you have nothing good to say, then you're better off not saying it. After all, aren't games like these to make friends and have fun? Well let me tell you, I don't think he's making much friends, or having much fun, with that attitude, huh? Anyways, what good is it to take a game like this so serious that you put winning a fight with some pixel monster over the feelings of another player? Only a mean person does that. But just like there are mean people IRL, those mean people play games too. Anyways, I've typed too much already but I just wanted you to know that if you ever want a friend to play with to have fun I will play with you, even though I am only level 10! o.O

To be honest I agree with you to a certain point. The first 20 (lol) times it was mainly us noobs doing this fight, we did the NMs together and had no clue what to expect. We had a laugh trying stuff out and I actually made a few new friends. I try to do stuff like that with "new" people because I think one part of the fun is to figure out the puzzle yourself, it's like cheating to go online and go on someone else's footsteps.
After a while though it was getting boring to die and I read loads of stuff about the fight, I read people's comments about which jobs to take on board, watched endless amounts of youtube videos. I shared all the links with the people in the party as well, and they all ready parts of it too.
Problem was though that at that point one of our members had to leave and we replaced him with the douchebag that made everyone feel as important as a part time worker at McDonalds.
