How on earth did you get that out of my post?is it just me or did you define a bad player as someone who gets several classes to 50 then uses the cross class ability allowed to customize thier class as a bad player.
What makes someone a bad player is their inability to learn, adapt, retain information and use it in battle. Has nothing to do if they want to put second wind on their lancer bar to get some extra hp sometimes.

If all the DD were truly equal in the sense you think they are. Class stacking wouldn't be in issue would it? It would not require more creativity and skill to do other set ups. The best Shells made up of arguably the most skill players use these strats because they are the most efficient. These are the people you are calling bad players.I could understand if you only wanted a class that dominantly excels at a specific role, but outside of THM DD (CON and GLA don't really have equals in their specific departments) I don't really think that exists in this game. All the melee DD classes are equally viable in this specific case, it's not a matter of efficiency. It's efficient in the sense that you follow the path that requires the least amount of creativity and skill, so people just "stick to wut works" and shut out players because they don't know any better.

mamba. to me there is a major difference between what you described yourself and a bad player. i primarily play only with my ls for events, but i do pick up parties every now and then. you sound like the type of person i would want in my pickup party to be honest. i look for certain types of things when i join 1.
1. i want someone that has at least experienced a fight.
2. someone that is willing to accept that they can improve and take feedback to get better.
3. someone that's willing to fail to get better.
4. willing to try different tactics and methods to increase results.
5. not a prick that thinks they know everything about everything.
i guess what i am saying is that i would take you into the battle in a pick up party any day of the week over the person that joined thinking they are gods gift. when it comes to these fights the first priority is to get a good strategy and get everyone on the same page. even once you all get on the same page it takes a bit of working with each other to get wins. you sound like the type that's willing to try other things.
just forget that other person and continue playing the game. it sounds like you are already on the right track to becoming a good player. once you continue getting better chances are you will see that guy later on and once you are good enough you can always boot him for being the bad player compared to you and your group :P.
best advice i can give is keep learning and trying to improve. just ignore the bad people like that.

To answer the question in the subject
My definition of "bad player": Someone who is not willing to learn, does not care about "the right way" to play their class, and when offered friendly advice they will ignore it in the best of cases, or more commonly get offended/reply in bad terms.
With that in mind...
Based on the above quote, I don't think you're a bad player. Are you a good player? I don't know either, but your attitude seems the right one to me. Had this guy not been a jerk and actually given you some helpful pointers, would you have been able to pull them off and improve your performance? If the answer is yes, then you have potential to be good at this game.
MMOs don't require mad skills to perform at a good level. Awereness, class/encounter knowledge and above all willingness to learn and improve at every attempt is what it takes to be "good"!
Playing casually doesn't necesarily make you a bad player, just the same as there are many 24/7 players who are hopeless and will always be leeches ><

Well bad player for me is one that doesnt take the time to try several playing styles, one who doesnt ask anything to other players with same class, one who doesnt accepts tips from other players, one who doesnt care how to be useful and prefers leaving things to everyone else, people who think that are the best in the game and the worst those who prefer chatting or going afk when fighting a boss ><

a bad player is someone who doesn't try or moreover doesn't ask questions.
however, the worst player is one that has the knowledge and doesn't answer those questions.

A lot of you seem to be confusing a bad player with a jerk. Not all jerks are bad players, and most bad players are not jerks.
