What is a 'bad player'?

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here for a moment.

Where you considering and applying any of the advise given to you?

I'm not saying the way he treated you was proper (idiots will be idiots, he's just another basement dweller who would never say anything like that to someone in real life) but sometimes, you need to understand, it really is frustrating to try and give someone some feedback or some minor criticism only to see it fly through one ear and exit the other.

I'm not doubting you know how to play the game (it's not that hard, let's face it) but maybe keep your mind open and try something different? Think about it, if you use his suggestions and die even more, all you can say is "I told you so"!

On another note, a bad player is someone who doesn't play the game and thinks he/she is actually capable of giving any sort of advice. Take from that what you want.

He didn't give me any advice, his comments went along the line "you suck, you shouldn't play the game, you are only leeching to get through fights etc. etc." And when I asked why he thought that, he said that it was not his job to teach me and I should just stop playing if it was so hard for me... (not with such nice words though).

I actually like it when people give me critisism because at least then I know what I am doing wrong. The game didn't exactly come with a manual so I think only way you learn is to try > fail > learn> succeed and in some cases you won't realize what you are doing wrong until someone points it out.

Well in those cases you just move along. He's obviously a sociopath of some sort and can't bother to be polite, which means you shouldn't either.

You'll be AMAZED at the amount of "non-players" with post counts in the thousands claiming to know everything and anything about the game (along with what's best for it).

Everyone that offers consoles isn't helping either because that person might holds some truth that OP was performing poorly, we do not know the story from the other side, so it's better to not judge either OP or the other guy.

I think him being an ass should be a motivation for you to get better instead of coming here, telling everyone he is an ass and made you cry. Shows him that you are a good and capable player by beating the contents, moogle has been around for weeks, there are a lot of videos lying around that can shows you a lot of perspectives from different classes, there are also a lot of discussions/tutorials.

I am fond believer that player that can take criticism well is the one that will be the best players around.

'Cause if you're not an active XIV player you know nothing about anything, amirite? Further, on issues not related to XIV specifically experience on the phenomena in general is meaningless, obviously.
