I think we've sort of got off topic. Oh wait, that happened like 5 pages ago. Attempting re-direction, Captain!:

In FFXIV, gear doesn't make your epeen any bigger, just your skill which you picked up from YouTube in the last 10min, so stop being mean to the newbies!

Parse tells you who is more aggressive and who isn't. Other words you can be naked and still do more damage then a fulled gear person. If you are more aggressive. You don't compare your damage to others and expect to see results. Different play styles and different approach. If you really want to test it. Do the fight naked then do the fight fully geared with materia attached. and check your damage difference not the others.

On Xi even though sam was far better DD then rng. Mine could out parse most because of my aggressive play style. Did that make ranger a better DD? of course not.

I did do that. I'm not talking about out dps'ing people with no gear... I'm talking about maintaining equal dps against my self with gear and without gear.

Not sure if you didn't read everything or misinterpreted. Starting at page 11.

If I increased a stat by 20~30, should I not see a difference in damage? Going from memory I think I have 238~ish DEX on my arc, so 20~30 dex is 10% more or less increase.

Anyway... I'm not trying to argue but again (to me at least) stats make very little difference in overall performance.
They do affect, and it's somewhat noticeable. Sure, it might've been not as much due to enemy defense and other factors, and I'm not saying everything is perfect, but as Chard mentioned, your gear isn't the only factor that needs to be accounted for on the moogle battle.

Heck, you could've actually been doing less damage per hit, and due to that, having less hate problems allowing you to attack more often than normally. You could've been on a lucky critical streak row. Someone else might've been a bit sloppy, indirectly "increasing" your DPS count. We could stay here all day listing these sittuations. As chard said, parser numbers from moogle fight aren't exactly a good indicator of stat effectiveness; try parsing it out on strong, regular monsters and have a large enough sample: I can assure you there will be some difference that sure, could really need to be tweaked, but is there.

As for the overall performance, in a game where you can move freely to avoid damage, manage hate, crowd control, use positional combos, elemental weaknesses, deal with possible fight gimmicks and several other factors, stats should play an important role, but "skill" and knowledge of the mechanics involved on the game should be comparable to em, if not even more important.

There's also 2 things to consider if you wanna see your dmg vs other players.

    1. Some DDs sux ^^ (I know some who can fail their combo even in arc.. :/)
    2. Some DD control their hate. They slow down DPS so they don't get 5 mobs flashing red on them.

So if your pt got DD style #2 and if your are really agressive and you don't control your dmgs, yeah you can be top DPS. But i'm sure if you put a naked ARC vs a double-melded ARC in the same conditions and with the same agressivity, the DD with good gears will do muuuch more than +1k dmg on a 20 min fight.

Sorry but I find this hilarious, because it's so ridiculous I just can not understand why it happens and yet people and more often women always do this: They talk to some person, who turns out to be jerk and they know that the person is a jerk and still... they blame themselves. They have to be loved by everyone or life is not worth living.

Part of becoming a Good Player is to socialize and to learn how to identify other Good and Bad Players yourself. This is not just a gear check, but an attitude check as well. And make a mental note when you actually do meet a Good Player. Better yet: add them to your friend list! And if you start noticing there are a lot of players on your friendlist, who have the same linkshell then maybe you should apply to that linkshell too. Do not focus on the bad, focus on the Good.

Yes, we're kind of strange that way.

Of course I can't speak for everyone, but for many women social bonds and the feelings of others are very important.

Words can do much more damage than Ifrit's Hellfire.

    To Mamba (OP),

It takes time to get past incidents like that -- I know.
But I hope that you have a good group of friends around you that will help to keep you going.

And of course the Blacklist is very useful as well. ^^

To be honest, if he's that much of an arrogant jerk, just egg him on. It's always funny.

If he says you're crap just tell him you're actually awesome, but you dislike him personally so you are deliberately losing to waste his time and make sure he doesn't get those sweet Moogle Himantes.

Then ask him if someone took his sweetroll.

I know what a good player is: Someone walking out of the Moogle fight only taking 2K damage total. 2K of that being from Memento. (I'm talking about you Jake Stewart...!!! lol)
