Seems like a good question for SE.After all this, I gotta ask, what's the point in putting stats in the game at all then? Why not just turn it into a game of Street Fighter where accuracy is dependant solely on relative position and damage dependant on Light, Medium or Heavy Kick? Seriously, this is an RPG. Stats are meant to play a solid role in character progression.
I'm guessing you'd just get a generic answer though. "Stats affect the following; blah blah blah yada yada yada" and any small increase even .01% they would say is an effective increase.
Stats supplement skill and enhance performance. They play a solid role, they just aren't crucial to success. However, with good enough gear you can make up for what you lack in skill, and achieve better results if somebody likes that sort of thing. Speedruns can be interesting especially if the game encourages you to do them. After all this, I gotta ask, what's the point in putting stats in the game at all then? A solid role? lol... when I do 1,000 less damage over the course of the moogle fight when I wear 0 gear opposed to my double melded gear, then I would argue stats hardly make a difference.Stats supplement skill and enhance performance. 1000 damage is nothing in a dynamic fight like this... 5 light shots or 1 barrage.

Three questions:
1 - Your weapon was also a low level one?
2 - The rest of the team also did the fight on the same conditions?
3 - Did the battle end as quickly, easily and smoothly as usual?
Sorry to interject, but in regard to point 1: Weapons are one piece of gear among many. In regard to 2 and 3: It's already been proven that a fight can go well with appropriate weapons and the right strategy.
1.) I fibbed a little, I wasn't technically naked - I had Ifrit's Bow and paragon helm.
2.) Everyone else was wearing their standard gear (i was getting b*tched @ for being nude)
3.) The only real difference I noticed was I was getting hit by the moogle for slightly higher numbers... like 650 instead of 500... not really that big of a difference.

Really? People use moogle parser as comparison? In moogle fights if you are one of the top DPS, the moogles will starts following you, forcing you to kite. Which is why using parses from moogle fight is silly because there are few scenario where some player will not be able to perform anything for few minutes.
Of course unless you are such a bad DPS, you never had moogles following you.
After memento I generally have 3-5 moogles flashing red chasing me. I still top dps.... every run. Combination of kiting / dpsing / shadowbinds / Cham + Quel Str / 2nd wind / cure myself / cures from my healers / featherfoot / decoy / sentinel... just playing the class basically.Really? Then you would know numbers fluctuates alot because of this scenarios. Numbers are not consistent enough to justifies stats arent working as intended with moogle parses. After memento I generally have 3-5 moogles flashing red chasing me. I still top dps.... every run. I parse all the time and the numbers are pretty consistent. I know what you're saying though... it's a dynamic fight. I'm just saying that stats place a small role in overall performance based on what I've observed. I used the moogle fight as an example, but I saw the same thing against Ifrit (pre 1.20). I had the worst gear out of anyone in all the parties I played with and still topped parse.
I guess my main point is that stats (other than weapon) have a small effect in game. I would think 30 dex and 15 pie, +40~ crit attack, +40 attack power would make some noticeable difference, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
