Spear fishing Gig

I got fisher to level 61 and got the spear fishing gig and tried it out. I think spear fishing is fun and much more engaging than regular fishing. I decided to look at the market board to see if there was a new gig in a few levels or not and from what i noticed unless they are all tied to quests, fisher doesn't get a new offhand at all. Not even at max level. My question is why is fisher the one that feels like it needs the highest stats to successfully gather things but also gets the added detriment of not having an off-hand that gives extra stats?

I want a Blessed golden spear though, from collecting a certain amount of spear-able fish. The thing is GP IS rather important for Spearfishing, and the stats themselves on the side matter little since overall the requirements for gathering on FSH is lower than BTN/MIN anyways.

Veteran Trade and the extra Yield are great add ons. It made fishing leves a lot easier to do. Unfortunately the Yield is less useful due to RNG in fishing holes that give you a 1/3 chance of getting a particular fish.

The Gig only has GP in it and Fsh doesn't seem to rely on attributes the way other gathering do. I was spearing motley beakfish at level 65, in NQ Kudzu gear. Just not as often as do at 70.

Having said that though, I kind of agree. Because the gear really doesn't make or break you it would have been nice to have a 290 Gig just so that class had 290 end game like the other classes. As of right now, it has a gimped iLevel because of that Gig.

Why have off hands on any class? It's visual fluff. I would like the ability to get a nicer looking gig.

Is there a reason why we only got one version? It's a little odd... can we get a scrip one, please? It just seems odd that we have basically craftable/HQ/blue everything else but the gig.

They can't put any stats on it other than GPs. If they added other stats they would need to rebalance every fish in the game. Given that what's to upgrade?

A glamour piece would be nigh though.

It's kind of weird, though, since it only shows up at 61, wouldn't you only need to take that into account for the Stormblood fish?

Yeah, a lvl 70 geared FSH is going to have way more stats than needed for every fish in the game pre-SB anyway, so they would've only needed to set the stats of SB fish with this in mind... and seeing as how the gig was added in SB, that would be an easy job. That said, FSH is the only class that needs to do a side quest to have access to it's off-hand tool, so maybe they were afraid people would miss it and not be able to catch any normal fish.
