We really need several English server in Japan Data Center!

I think there are about 4 main considerations when selecting a world: ease of comms + play culture / community + population / congestion + ping

If there's a way to get statistics on active players by client language, it can help players decide on the ease of communication factor.

People make up the community. An EN label on a server will still take time to create an EN community. Statistics can help shape movement too.

(I'm not against Oceanic players having their own servers at all, I think it's a great idea if there are enough people who want it. But complaining about the PF being mostly JP when you pick a datacenter that doesn't include the biggest EN community is weird. Of course it's mostly JP. It's unreasonable to expect every single server group to be majority English-speaking.)

This is exactly what's on my mind. I am good for a dedicated Oceanic Server but not for the reason of complaining about "JP only" Party Finders. You are in a JP data center, it is inevitable.

Chocobo is almost entirely JP, with a tiny minority of EN players, most of whom are either bilingual or who, at the very least, don't carry the attitude that the entire world must revolve around English-speaking populations.

If an EN player is willing to integrate, there's a home here for them. If not, please look elsewhere. JP-only PF requests do occur here, so if that is what annoys such players, they won't feel welcome.

Unrelated and sorry for the off topic bump but how is the Chocobo server?
Tried Tonberry and didn't really like the community, Aegis my current server is chill but very small English population and while my Japanese is sufficient sometimes its hard to chat with words I dont know. I don't mind doing server hoping still trying to find my home but haven't heard much about chocobo.

Making a new character is a no go but transferring always works.
Same with Tonberry if I were to go back to that server for whatever reason I can't make a new character there because it's always full but if I transferred I'll be in easy.
I don't know how it works but it does for some reason. I wont complain tho other than the transfer fee but I can afford it.

I remembered SE stating that world transfer is halted but that was alwhile back.. i guess you could try.

The cultural differences between a JP and an EN server are generally well known.

On JP worlds, there is a preference not to spam public channels. The few spams you do see are almost always accompanied with an apology for the nuisance. Common courtesies are observed, with greetings at the start and end of dungeons.

In general, JP players prefer not to chat in dungeons. That includes challenging or harassing others, even if you think they're doing poorly -- the players suck it up, until it's very obvious the instance can't make it. In which case, everyone votes to abandon, and moves on.

For raids, it's important to distinguish between practice runs and actual attempts to clear. Practice runs usually entail either three attempts to clear, or to keep trying until time runs out. This will be specified in the comment box -- if you can't read Japanese, you could end up causing a lot of inconvenience for seven other players.

Do not attempt to join a "duty complete" party hoping to get carried. You won't be well-liked.

There will be raid macros. They're the game plans, spelling put the raid positions of each player, and the preferred methods for evading raid mechanics. Learn these macros beforehand wherever possible. When JP players see that you're at least familiar with the mechanics (which they prefer to call "gimmicks"), they'll be less hostile towards the presence of an EN player.

In most cases, it's not even hostility. It's usually the difficulty of communication that makes JP-only parties a necessity. On Chocobo, only a handful of such requests occur, and even then, they're usually for O3S and O4S.

And please, cut down on the swearing. It's usually not cool to swear on JP worlds. JP players do curse in frustration, but it's rarely to the extent I find on EN servers.

lol I'm not being self entitled. I'm happily in the uk on an eu server. It's you guys who think they should "deal with it" who're being self entitled. The oceanic players deserve their own servers or data centres. So yes, I did think about what I said thanks get off your high horse

You can't transfer to congested servers. They changed it with SB. That's why everyone's crying about Balmung: no more transferring there.

Anyway, I find the rudeness to OP about his or her so-called "entitlement" to be shocking. These are people who live over in the same region as Japan. They aren't on Japanese servers because "lolJapanese players and culture are so cool and better than westerners!" that I've seen an unfortunate amount of on the OF. They're there because playing with higher values of ping can be very challenging. When SE moved the NA DC recently it helped my ping enough that I feel like doing certain battles is cheating compared to what it used to be; I don't have to pre-dodge basic attacks anymore. I felt like I was playing the game the way it was intended for the very first time.

Having a server at least marked for Oceanic players would be fair if the oceanic numbers are high enough, which I don't believe any of us here are qualified in making a statement about. Asking for a datacenter is way, way too much though. That's just unrealistic.
