I'm a bit confused on why having an "Oceana" marked server or two would be a bad thing, either. Echoing Pence above, the European DC has always run fine with many languages flying around, and most players of each first language gravitates towards a particular server (last I heard, Shiva was the place to be for Germans much like Tonberry is for Aus and Oceana).

Maybe try making an alt on the new servers in the centers and find if it works for you. Then you won't get locked in a transfer.

That is if oceania get it's own seperate DC then i would welcome it too. But if you put it in a JP DC it only spills trouble. Because you can queue cross server and if there's 2 different playstyle oh god we don't want to go there...
Language will be a major issue too so i don't think it's "Healthy" to put oceania dedicated server in a JP DC.

Seems like Tonberry has integrated just fine in 4 years, you're making an issue out of nothing.

Since i play on Mana DC i can't really comment on tonberry server but i did some research online and i am pretty shocked at what i have seen..

Apparently most of the Japanese players have left tonberry due to culture differences and communication issues. There is widespread discrimination in the elemental DC to go as far to TonberryX on PF.
    エレメンタルDCが悪い、この先ずっと外人と組むことあると思うから嫌なら今のうちにGaiaかManaのサーバーに作り直しとけ -comment from http://ff14-stormblood.xyz/2017/06/post-470
Elemental DC is bad, from here on out you will be paired with foreigners so if you hate it now's the chance to reroll to Gaia or Mana server.

I don't get why such a fuss between english speaker and jap player. We've been living like that on EU servers since the beginning, there's some trouble here and there but it still kinda work. Tho I would assume if there was EN/FR/DE servers it would split the EU community appart, since EN don't like FR, FR don't like FR and DE, and DE don't like FR.

I kind of understand what the fuss is.

Because whenever I am in a duty, no matter what it is. And there is some kind of strange lack of skill/wipe/something out of the ordinary like a tank or DPS going AWOL. It's 90% guaranteed that the party is all E.
Now, I like helping new people, this is a completely different matter. I am talking about groups who had the capabilities to clear easily but for whatever reason they didn't give that 100% that I am accustomed to giving and receiving in a usual party makeup (mix of my friends + J players).

It's pretty strange, that I prefer to play with J players when I can't make friends with them due to language barriers, but it's true.

And I hate to say this, but in the few times I have played with a F player over the years, not a single one has tried to communicate.
The precise same pattern shows up: F player clearly doesn't know what to do/how to play. I ask them nicely if they need help with an explanation; no response.
I use auto translate to try communicate their task/position/what to avoid. No response; they continue to fail mechanics etc.
Every single time and NO new player message (new player messages automatically get them a Carry pass + a comm no matter the language!).

    It's comical, but its a bit frustrating too, and those are the reasons why I understand J players wanting to move to other data centers ^^;;;;

In all seriousness though, we've been managing fine in EU, hell even when I play in NA it's more or less the same. I think the biggest issue is just the cultural discrepancy.

    Indeed.

The cultural differences between a JP and an EN server are generally well known.

On JP worlds, there is a preference not to spam public channels. The few spams you do see are almost always accompanied with an apology for the nuisance. Common courtesies are observed, with greetings at the start and end of dungeons.

In general, JP players prefer not to chat in dungeons. That includes challenging or harassing others, even if you think they're doing poorly -- the players suck it up, until it's very obvious the instance can't make it. In which case, everyone votes to abandon, and moves on.

For raids, it's important to distinguish between practice runs and actual attempts to clear. Practice runs usually entail either three attempts to clear, or to keep trying until time runs out. This will be specified in the comment box -- if you can't read Japanese, you could end up causing a lot of inconvenience for seven other players.

Do not attempt to join a "duty complete" party hoping to get carried. You won't be well-liked.

There will be raid macros. They're the game plans, spelling put the raid positions of each player, and the preferred methods for evading raid mechanics. Learn these macros beforehand wherever possible. When JP players see that you're at least familiar with the mechanics (which they prefer to call "gimmicks"), they'll be less hostile towards the presence of an EN player.

In most cases, it's not even hostility. It's usually the difficulty of communication that makes JP-only parties a necessity. On Chocobo, only a handful of such requests occur, and even then, they're usually for O3S and O4S.

And please, cut down on the swearing. It's usually not cool to swear on JP worlds. JP players do curse in frustration, but it's rarely to the extent I find on EN servers.
