Having a dedicated oceanic / English server would not create more opportunities, the PF would still be attached to the current worlds and be predominantly Japanese. The only area 'JP only' really occurs is savage content or learning parties, which isn't a great loss because you'll probably want other English speaking party members.

However; there really should be at least 1 server listed as Oceanic. A new player shouldn't have to research servers before creating a character, it should be simple and welcoming.

(Side bar: You can complete all current content with 240ms+ easily)

    I quite disagree.

It is possible complete content with 240ms lag, but the content is harsher. For instance, you have less than a half second to avoid AOE that normally are giving 2 seconds for a player with a ping less than 100ms. It is quite common the client shows the char exiting the bad before the cast ends but taking the damage anyways.

I know that because South America is one of those places with 240ms+ lag. And I had to time better my movements to not get caught by mechanics.

Do you think you are exaggerating a bit? You think that playing at 240ms gives you 1.5 seconds lag over someone at 100ms? I've done O4S at 240ms (I'm from Australia on NA svr) - never once did I feel like I was disadvantaged due to my ping. I've also done Susan/Lak at both 140 (Tonberry) and 240ms ping - both felt the same.

Not really. If I begin to move at 0'5, I WILL take the hit. Inside that 1.5 second I'm counting the time needed to actually get out from the bad (something between 0.5~1 second, depending on the AoE itself). But, if I'm lucky enough, the game sometimes interpret that I got out before the time runs out and give me a dodge.

The fact is that the time I have to flee is tinier.

If SE improved coding issues, having a 240 ping wouldn't be so harsh. I feel they are too used to pure fiber or something being in japan and do not extensively test what it is like to have these pings in situations you need split second timing. With the game now you are basically forced to predict everything, even when it comes to using lusterate and so on. My latest example on how poorly the game is coded with pings higher then 100 MS is this. I was running WHM and I used Tetragrammaton (wtf at this name really, i had to google whm job abilities because this is too difficult to spell) when I had low HP. I died, it was on cooldown, but yet it did not heal me. This is way too common in this game, the coding is very bad and slow when it comes to considering ping.

If the game was truly playable around 200 ping, maybe people would not feel the need to ask for local data centers.
