I don't get why such a fuss between english speaker and jap player. We've been living like that on EU servers since the beginning, there's some trouble here and there but it still kinda work. Tho I would assume if there was EN/FR/DE servers it would split the EU community appart, since EN don't like FR, FR don't like FR and DE, and DE don't like FR.

I could say the same about most of the french players. But do i write about that in the way you do? No. Do i care if they write french? No. But you seem to have a serious issue with germans if you have to point it out that hard.

I don't see an issue with having a DC for Oceania. A DC is just a cluster of servers that are logically grouped together. SE could locate these wherever they wish. While English is the main language in Australia and NZ there are numerous other countries that come under the Oceania heading. For many of these countries English is a second language that is used to communicate with players that have a different native language. It appears that this works adequately for them. It also appears they understand why the Japanese groups would generally prefer to have all Japanese language groups. However the current server setup more or less forces these groups together or creates situations where people cannot find like minded players. As both the Oceania and Japanese players have what I consider reasonable rationales the better solution is to find a way to accommodate the Oceania players and segregate the two player bases. This would be accomplished by creating some English preferred servers that are closely related an given preference in DF and PF (their own DC perhaps).

It is possible complete content with 240ms lag, but the content is harsher. For instance, you have less than a half second to avoid AOE that normally are giving 2 seconds for a player with a ping less than 100ms. It is quite common the clientshows the char exiting the bad before the cast ends but taking the damage anyways.

I know that because South America is one of those places with 240ms+ lag. And I had to time better my movements to not get caught by mechanics.
If SE improved coding issues, having a 240 ping wouldn't be so harsh. I feel they are too used to pure fiber or something being in japan and do not extensively test what it is like to have these pings in situations you need split second timing. With the game now you are basically forced to predict everything, even when it comes to using lusterate and so on. My latest example on how poorly the game is coded with pings higher then 100 MS is this. I was running WHM and I used Tetragrammaton (wtf at this name really, i had to google whm job abilities because this is too difficult to spell) when I had low HP. I died, it was on cooldown, but yet it did not heal me. This is way too common in this game, the coding is very bad and slow when it comes to considering ping.

If the game was truly playable around 200 ping, maybe people would not feel the need to ask for local data centers.

I've always been an advocate for an official english designated server hosted in Japan, the main benefit for SE is being able to promote the game in our region with a server that is near by and grow the number of oceanic players. Right now if a new player joins they have to google up where Aus people are or they just wind up wherever, there's nothing from SE to tell them this where people from your region/timezone are playing.

This was my case, I became so heavily invested in Asura house and all, before I knew about Tonberry. I get by, and am relatively content but if I knew from the beginning where all the people from my region were I would have obviously picked that server.

And before anyone chimes in why I didn't pick a US/EU server; pings to the US/EU in MMO's have historically been horrific from Aus. Even worse I'm in Perth. And there's no WTFast for PS4 players.

I kind of understand what the fuss is.

Because whenever I am in a duty, no matter what it is. And there is some kind of strange lack of skill/wipe/something out of the ordinary like a tank or DPS going AWOL. It's 90% guaranteed that the party is all E.
Now, I like helping new people, this is a completely different matter. I am talking about groups who had the capabilities to clear easily but for whatever reason they didn't give that 100% that I am accustomed to giving and receiving in a usual party makeup (mix of my friends + J players).

It's pretty strange, that I prefer to play with J players when I can't make friends with them due to language barriers, but it's true.

And I hate to say this, but in the few times I have played with a F player over the years, not a single one has tried to communicate.
The precise same pattern shows up: F player clearly doesn't know what to do/how to play. I ask them nicely if they need help with an explanation; no response.
I use auto translate to try communicate their task/position/what to avoid. No response; they continue to fail mechanics etc.
Every single time and NO new player message (new player messages automatically get them a Carry pass + a comm no matter the language!).

    It's comical, but its a bit frustrating too, and those are the reasons why I understand J players wanting to move to other data centers ^^;;;;

Tried Tonberry and didn't really like the community, Aegis my current server is chill but very small English population and while my Japanese is sufficient sometimes its hard to chat with words I dont know. I don't mind doing server hoping still trying to find my home but haven't heard much about chocobo.

Chocobo is almost entirely JP, with a tiny minority of EN players, most of whom are either bilingual or who, at the very least, don't carry the attitude that the entire world must revolve around English-speaking populations.

If an EN player is willing to integrate, there's a home here for them. If not, please look elsewhere. JP-only PF requests do occur here, so if that is what annoys such players, they won't feel welcome.

It's as how Tinyredleaf has described. Chocobo is a raiding focused server like gilgamesh so there is a sort of no nonsense attitude. If you can't speak Japanese in raids it's instant kick/disband.
