I think the same argument that lead to the introduction of a job jump potion equally justifies a permanent "Road to X" type of buff for newly created characters on all servers, to be removed when the first job reaches level X or when two jobs reach level X-10, or when four jobs reach level X-20, etc.

The only rationale against such a catch-up mechanism would be that it would cannibalize on the sale of jump potions. To that, I suppose the only argument is that anyone who are willing to spend the money to buy a jump potion would probably still spend it on some other job later on. The rest who would like to save the money wouldn't buy it anyway with or without the buff.

For me, the Road to 60 has been the one single reason I am finally experiencing MNK/BRD/MCH/AST/NIN at level 50. I've had several alts and I could never get past level 30-35 on these jobs. This is also something that could apply to players new to the game.
