mages in my opinion.
yep thm power
well as for now there is no real difference in damage (lets wait for black mage abillities). conjurer has a skill that pushes his damage output... in contrast to that reducing his healing abillity.
and with the right element (wind) against ifrit you do even more damage (about 25% or more). fire (THM) and ice (THM) wont do that much damage on ifrit. so i think con should be the better choice, especially if i imagine a group of 4+ CNJ and a gladiator who is tanking... you have heal en masse and also damage in form of wind.
What THM would use Fire n Ice on him???? First 2 Thunder for combo is all you need. We were able to get a few runs under 9 mins tonite, with a few lower DMG THMs in PT. With every THM doing high DMG I'm sure you can get close to 6 mins or less.
Thaum has better burst potential, and their 2-part Thunder combo has an instant-cast for Thundara, where as Aerora has a cast time, so you'll be more restricted to when you can and can't shoot off a combo without dying.
but wind does the most damage against ifrit believe me.. its a REAL difference to cast the best element on the mob since some patches.
the elemental wheel:
so ice is the worst choice , the same for fire (THM)... and lightning is only neutral to fire. the damage is ok, but so wind is much better. just try it out and compare. i easily outdamage a THM at dragon spots with wind. while i do around 1k damage the thm does with thunder only around 600-800. (and i have wind items equipped on)

BTW, either they've changed the elemental wheel COMPLETELY, or they've changed mob elements. Amalj'aa, once Fire element and weak to wind, are now extremely weak to Earth and strong against Wind.
Also, have you even done Primal battles since last patch? You're referencing something about "dragon spots", when the OP asks for Ifrit specifically. I believe elemental strengths and weaknesses do not apply for Primal fights, in order to allow for at least some sort of balance. As a Conj nuking on Ifrit, my Stone and Aero did the same damage. If the old elemental wheel was still in effect (or any elemental wheel when it comes to Primals), Aero should definitely do more damage to Ifrit than Stone. But it doesn't.
NOTE: I haven't actually tried using Fire for Ifrit, but then again it is AoE, so there's be no reason to use it on single-targets at all. Not sure how much I can trust from forum posts about it healing him though, haven't really seen it for myself.
