    i2501 Error when paying for subscription

    Kept getting the i2501 error whenever I try to pay for subscription and purchase items from Mog Station. I can redeem the 2 codes I purchased from Steam for the full game just fine, as well as a recruit a friend code.

    However, anything after that wouldn't work. It never got into the part where it ask me to enter payment detail, it just display the error message directly. I tried Master Card and Steam wallet, same result. I also tried to purchase Crysta with a Master Card, same result. Using PayPal, it will just give me a "Thank you for purchasing screen" without even redirecting me to PayPal.

    I am not connected through VPN or Proxy, and I tried on my Phone's 4G network as well as the network from work. Same issue.

    I wanted to contact support via phone or direct chat, but my time zone is a full 15 hours ahead. That means your business hour is my midnight. EMail supports just gave me copy and paste answers that I've read and tried already. So I am running out of ways to ask for help... I just want to be able to pay for subscription, so that I know with all the time I spent in the game, I will still be able to play it after my month is up.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Ashbecker,

    I am in the same boat! I am sorry for this inconvenience to you but made me feel better someone was also experiencing error i2501 with no resolution. I feel Square Enix needs to be a little more helpful with this issue and felt I needed to add to your post.

    I also contacted support and to no avail I am sure they were reading troubleshooting guides that were in front of them that was absolutely not going to give a resolution to the error for the reasons I was receiving it.

    All I was trying to do was purchase a job boost, and received this error without even completing the payment details. I tried a few other things I felt might work before I even contacted them: tried to pay through mobile phone, switched browsers, changed some account info etc. There is nothing wrong with my connection, I am playing from the US and located in the US. All that the Square Enix agent told me I should do is wait a couple days and try again and he would resubmit the ticket to someone who might be able to help me

    I did upgrade from a trial account after purchasing Stormblood, and trying to order the job boost on this account. Possibly could have caused some kind of issue...but there should be tons of people who did this.

    The job boost and Stormblood was the only reason I came back to the game so its sad that I cannot even take advantage of something that has nothing to do with anything on my side. I guess for now I just level normally. Wanted to unlock RDM sooner than later

    This is an error that has nothing to do with Square Enix rather it is the company behind the financial transactions - IOVATION. that is where the issue is. there are multple threads on reddit about this issue. check them out for a solution!

    Appreciate the link. I also read that while out searching for a way. However it's not Iovation, because I haven't even got to that point where it ask for my payment details yet, other threads that I've seen also suggest the ban was applied on Square Enix side to 'protect' your account.

    You might be right. Cause I was upgrading from a trial account by entering the 2 keys I got, along with a 3rd recruit a friend key. Maybe that's what triggered the protection. Entering 3 keys in a short window of time, then proceed to try for a transaction (a fantasia in my case, lol).

    I wonder if anyone from Square will reply and provide support on this forum. The system they have in place are really hurting their regular customers.
