tbh I don’t get why some people are vehemently against a temporary suspension. As it is, we’re set to get 700+ new plots next month, giving people a short grace period isn't going to really effect those trying to get a house.

If that the case, then it shouldn't have been suspended when Japan was suffering from the tsunami and earthquakes..you say it doesn't seem fair that some people get this treatment and others doesn't. Yet here we are Japan got this treatment for suffering earthquakes and tsunami's and America was hit by two hurricanes, and possibly a third one is going to hit as well. Don't you think it's not fair if all what NA gets is "Well, that's too bad but your house will still be demolished."I'm not exactly against it, but i think that instead of doing that every time something bad happens in the world (that is always) they should raise the demolition time for like 3 or 4 months forever. This time, the tragedy happened in a big and well know country. But things like that is unfortunately happening all the time around the world. So it doesn't seem fair that some ppl get this treatment and others doesn't.
Still no dev response here. Interesting.
It's really disappointing to see how many people are so viciously against something that really wouldn't impact their gameplay like, at all.
A suspension of auto-demolish happened once before for a large-scale disaster, and should be happening now, due the amount of areas impacted and the time a great deal of people may need to deal with things before they can manage to return to the game. It would be a kind gesture to leave them this small thing, untouched for when they can return. Quite honestly I agree with several people saying that the timer itself shouldn't even start until someone is not paying on their sub, but that's a whole other arguement.
Please SE, we really need some feedback on this.
There are 6.5 million residents in the Houston metro area, and a nearly equivalent population density as Kumamoto (where the earthquake that caused the 1st demolition suspension hit). There are now over 200,000 people that have filed for disaster relief (for comparison, 180,000 where sheltered in Japan). This is just from hurricane Harvey. Irma has now left 16 million people without electricity across the southeast US. 35 fatalities (comparable to the earthquake). And as far north as Charleston, SC is sitting under water.
And this doesn't touch the fire evacuations in the Pacific Northwest. Seriously, the US is so large that even other citizens fail at times to realize the scope of damage that can at times happen. But right now, the US is getting wrecked. There are more potential storms on the way. And there will be a very long wait for a lot of people to get help getting their lives back given the resource cuts to emergency relief.
A demo suspension needs to happen.
Well SE HQ is in Japan sooooo.... That could have been the reason why Japan received preferential treatment. It is not fair, but it is their house/home. They are always gping to prioritize themselves above anyone. I am nkt affected by the recent natural disasters, but I will stay neutral in this. Iam not the pro the again nor agaisnt it.If that the case, then it shouldn't have been suspended when Japan was suffering from the tsunami and earthquakes..you say it doesn't seem fair that some people get this treatment and others doesn't. Like I said i'm not against it, do it! It doesn't impact me at all and I think that this ppl deserve something too, I already made my donation (even thought it were small cause I couldn't afford to do more =/) to help them and I don't even live on US. But they're all ppl like me and I'm concerned about them.If that the case, then it shouldn't have been suspended when Japan was suffering from the tsunami and earthquakes..you say it doesn't seem fair that some people get this treatment and others doesn't. It's just that i think it were a bad decision they did in the past with the Japan stuff that opened a precedent for this to be asked again now and it'll happen again and again.
Like I said if the demolition time were raised to like 4 months forever it would still work to get the houses away from ppl that gave up on the game completely and still give plenty of time for ppl that had to leave the game temporarily cause of a major disaster like this one or even problems in their own life.
And yes I do think that square could help on this, but It could be a more substantial help... Like when we did the Lalafell invasion to raise funds it could have been an official event, with more support and using more servers with the gms helping organizing it. Or they could do like wow is doing, blizzard made a minion and put it to sell on their cash shop and all the money raised from the selling will be sent to this cause. Final Fantasy have so many awesome characters if they got just of the well know characters from old games and put it to sell it would raise a crazy amount of money in little time.

Any EST based FC will be affected by this. This needs to be a thing.
Lets not forget Mexico was also affected by a massive earthquake and hurricane Katia.
You forgot the floodings in India and Bangladash.
It will also be a great idea to postbone the Shirogane launch. Victims wont get a chance to get a house now and they waiting soo long. Let's show our compassion and empaty !
