When I tank, I *usually* give my commendation to a healer. But, not always.

If I'm healer/DPS/OT in Full Party, it's random.

It could go to someone who impressed me with their mad skills, gave me a laugh, or even took the time to give instructions when they noticed sprouts are in the party. Sometimes I don't give at all if everyone is whining.

They're your commendations. Don't feel guilty. They aren't required. It doesn't make you any less of a person if you decide not to give one or can't give one to another player. When I'm DPS, I get them at weird times anyway. Sometimes I'll get a ton and wonder if I keep queuing with people that are in existing parties (100% totally the case). It's not going to ruin my day if I don't get any at all.

If DPS stand out as being skilled or generally pleasant party members, I see no reason to feel bad about commending them.

No, I don't think you should particularly feel bad about commending DPS. As a DPS main, when I run into a BRD that I notice is doing a good job, they're always going to get my comm. As for other instances, it really depends on who leaves a lasting impression on me. For example, last night while I was leveling SCH, I gave mostly the DPS comms because they were actively AOEing down mobs for large pulls (I prioritized melee in this instance just because it seems to be a rare occasion to see a melee DPS actually using their AOE skills). I did give a few tanks comms just for saying things like "This is my first time tanking this instance, so be patient, please!" or "Do you want large or small pulls, Hyomin?" Showing consideration is very important, and I felt that they should know that.

Its rare to find 2 or 3 good members so usually not.

Com dps if tank is just average or bad when healer is not doing much, do not feel bad.

I do feel bad when all 3 are good though and idk who to give, but less so if one or 2 leaves in a hurry, I also feel bad when I can't com that good member because they rushed out.

If I'm rolling tank or healer and I notice a DPS really rockin it, I usually give them a com. You can usually tell if they are giving it a 100% in regular content where that amount of effort really isn't even needed. I don't see a reason to feel bad about it.

Do I feel bad? Lol, no, not in the least. Comms go to the one that left the best impression, and that can be done so in myriad ways. If that's the DPS, then they earned it.

I've never felt bad about giving dps coms, and even prefer to do so. Tanks and healers are showered in coms for just being competent. DPS usually have to really stand out or the tank and healer both suck before they get considered. It does suck that we can only give one com at times. I've been in parties where everyone was just hitting every mark. I had to apologize to the others once since they all deserved marks imo. Those groups are fewer and far between unfortunately. Just give the com to whoever stands out for any reason. They'll get coms the next time or two around, I'm sure.

Normally i give it to the first person who says "hello" or something similar (providing that they then aren't rubbish). Or if it's someones first time i'll give it to them

I normally commend the other dps if they do a good job when I'm dps'ing myself. i don't feel obligated to commend the healer or the tank unless they do something special.

So first I gave it to the tank, because thank god we finally have a tank that was a long queue.
Then, I gave it to the healer, because thank god we finally have a healer too, and wow this healer can dps.
Then, I gave it to the high level well-geared beast damage dps, because dps deserve it too.
Then, I stopped caring and just gave it to the tank, or whoever else was still in and didn't insta-leave.
I also tried justifying myself to give it to sprouts who might actually need it.
Of course, there are the rare times someone was actually nice, funny, and made the run enjoyable.
But in the end, those are rare cases, and I'm a horrible human being, so I just gave it to whomever I liked their face the most. I.e. Best Glamour. I'm a horrible person.

So if it answers your question, yes I feed bad giving commendations, in general. My appreciation and respect for players are not some numerical thingy I click at the end of a dungeon. I don't particularly like, nor dislike, I just don't care really about this "commendation" thing. Commend for what? Fill my weekly challenge log and hope they need however many for their rewards and whatnot too? The whole point of commendations is an emotion trap.

So instead of giving commendations, I give myself, to the dungeon run now. I try to make it enjoyable. I try to be funny, helpful, humorous, and help defuse stressed situations. I try to play my role well and if not I let them know that I may be a bit tired today and apologize. And I don't get commendations for that, and for that, I am actually happy. It simply means other people respond in the ways they should, by participating in a run together, and giving what they will, in the run, for the run. In proper human ways. So who cares about commendations?
