When the party gone so good, the best course of action is commend each other. Tank and healer, dps and dps. So everyone comes out with one.

But I stopped looking at them, after the comm farming become a thing (looking at you, the one-minute guildhest!).

No, you shouldn't feel bad about giving commend to a DPS.

This is almost the same way I do things, even giving it to whoever was left in the duty to complete the challenge log.

Yes, this would be nice if the party is really good.

What I prefer though is that to be able to give commend to anyone who did his or her job well. If all of other players were doing well with their respective jobs and roles, we should be able to give one to all of them, not just to the best one. Of course, the reverse also applies, you shouldn't give one to any if none were good.

I always commend whoever I think performed the best, regardless of their role in the party.

The one thing I absolutely love is healers that run to go grab chests/doors/keys/ect. When I'm in something like Haukke and I see a SCH DoT a group up, Bane, plant Eos down, then go deal with whatever would normally slow the run down, I instantly want to throw commendations at them.

I do this! Not for comms, but it is one of my small (ok not so small) pet peeves when DPS run to open chest/interact with things/etc because (in theory at least) "we" are losing DPS anytime they aren't hitting things. Does it make a big difference? I will admit probably not, but it is still something that bugs me way more than it should.

edit: It also bugs me when tanks click the coffins in Tam Tara hard because of the (very brief I know) stun. Basically I can do my primary role with no dropoff while doing the extra things and they can't so it bugs me when they do.

If nothing outstanding happened as healer I give it to tank, dps to deeps. Unless sb is doing a particularly bad job then I will add it to whomever is left from party.

I'm very laid back about commendations and I just go off a flow chart I thought up:

(If I'm a tank) - Healer if they both dps and heal adequately.

(If I'm the healer) - Tank if they're consistent with pulls and use CDs. They don't have to be a fast puller, however they can't pause 30 seconds before every pack of enemies.

(If I'm a DPS) - If the other DPS has, well, good DPS.

(If there's a cool or elegant looking Elezen) they get automatically, unless they're a jerk :V.

Anyone else feel bad when giving commendations to DPS?
Not at all. By default all my comms go to either the tank or the healer. If it goes to a DPSer, you know he went above and beyond (what a tank/healer did).

I just do my achievement "give 5 comms" to get my reward so I just do it randomly. After i get that, I don't give comm to anyone, and I even don't get comm cuz I just leave the DF asap cuz I there are other things to do outside the game or just queue again to get to the next dungeon.

This is the only MMO that "forces" (referring to those players that ask for comms after the last boss or during the DF dungeon) me to give something to a random stranger. I explain things in dungeons when there are new ppl and/or asked for some tips ( I met very few people who thought I was a jerk/rude for ruining their experience with my tips so to respect that minority I ask or wait for people questions ) but never expect anyone to give me a comm for just being polite like I would have done outside the game.

If someone asks me for help such as where is this classroom/building or where is the student services, or where is the adm & record office in my college, then I just help them.

Most of the time I give it to DPS, I don't see why tank or healer should deserve it more ?

I'll give it to a tank only if he is a really good puller and the healer will get it only if he either, dealt a good chunk of DPS or did an awsome healer job forced by a bad tank or a bad DPS. If someone was nice in chat he might get it reguardless of the class he play and sometimes nobody earn my reccomandation (especialy in PotD with so many bad players making the run a chore).
