"Guide" to Dealing with Tanks as a Healer

First, this is a half joke. Please don't take everything seriously. I am mostly being sarcastic.

So, there are many types of tanks in FFXIV.

    1. Noob Tank

This category is divided into two sections. Good Noob and Bad Noob.

Good Noob: Is a noob, but takes advice and tries to get better
-Give them advice, treat them nicely, and heal them no matter how much they suck.

Bad Noob: Is a noob, ignores you or acts rude if you give advice.
-Give advice. If they are rude, don't heal them. If they ignore you, be a lazy healer. They may not speak your language or know how to read chat.

    2. Annoying Tank

This category is divided into two sections. Talkative Tank and Speedy Tank.

Talkative Tank: Takes an hour posting the whole guide on mechanics for every boss, even if everyone knows them already.
-Tell him "we know the mechs." If they continue, whisper a DPS to pull the boss.

Speedy Tank: Speed runners/big pullers. Don't allow any sort of rest.
-If you need a mana break, ask. If they keep going, take a break yourself. Just say "Taking a break" and stop moving or doing anything.

    3. Expert Tanks

This is divided into two categories. Good Expert and Impatient Expert.

Good Expert: Best person in the game. Knows mechs, is not rude, helpful.
-You must keep them alive! They are one of the few good people in this world.

Impatient Expert: Joins a learning party and leaves after one wipe or acts rude after one mistake.
-If they leave, nothing you can do. If they act rude, either vote kick or focus your healing on yourself/DPS or the other tanks.

    Overall Rules
    1. Don't let a tank be rude to you.
    2. Do what you need to survive.
    3. If someone pisses you off....you are the one who controls their survival. Good luck to them without heals

Definition of "noob" I learned when I started playing MMOs 15 years ago was that you use for "bad noob". Good one is just new player - newb.

As for 3rd advice - I don't see how making run worse for everyone, including yourself and innocent bystanders, is a solution to anything.

And yeah, I know it's a joke... it's just not really funny lol

You can't whisper people in dungeons fyi

Just take a friend or two, even if not tank they'll make the run about 10x more bearable... lately I've not done a single exbert run without one of my FC mates (he is a bard but it's still more fun that way)

This sound like a post directly ripped from a WoW forum.

Mana breaks are essentially not a thing in FFXIV, but are in WoW.
Whispers are from WoW as well and again, aren't a thing in FFXIV.

This post is lame and toxic. Not healing out of spite makes you as bad as the rude tank is.

If the tank is rude, you can either vote kick, or ignore them and heal anyway. Remember there's 2 (or 4) DPS players there who waited a long time to get that group and you shouldn't want them to be collateral damage while you fight with the tank.

The best advice to dealing with rude people in DF is "be an adult". You don't have to like or respect the tank in order to complete the instance, and rest of the group will appreciate it. Also, it's a great time to toss a commendation at a DPSer.

Or you can stop being a snowflake and perform your best regardless of what content you are doing. Honestly we have no idea what is going on behind someone else's screen, so the best thing to do is help them out where necessary, and continue to perform well yourself. Stooping down is a classless thing for anyone to do.

We are also lucky to be healers in this scenario, as we have the power to carry questionable groups in most content. Feel bad for the DPS who have to put up with terrible tanks and healers!!

Not everyone has friends who play video-games...or an FC that is active.

Which is why I said to not take stuff seriously. While I do believe tanks are divided mostly like this, I would never stop healing completely or be lazy. This is more of a "Hey tanks...watch out..we could do this to you."
