When you get put in a DF group as a melee DPS, more often than not there's nobody who needs Goad. However, there usually are tanks who don't have their stun, tanks who can't hold threat, tanks who like to cleave melee, tanks who like to waltz the boss and screw up positionals, healers who never stop targeting the tank, etc. I mean, I usually have Goad anyway, but I do swap my skills around a lot and sometimes you just forget to swap back. God, these humans with their mistakes. I wish I could just get bots for dungeons!
I know I'm late to this party by a fair bit, but I would like to speak to the tank side of things. Specifically the WAR side of tanking this as that is my main.
Before I start into the meat of it I will say this, I personally find kicking anyone for anything short of being an ass or a disconnect is inexcusable. Especially when you're doing roulette content as it's meant to mix the experienced with the new.
Onto my main point: I have seen someone in this thread say Goad is an optional skill, I would ask that if you're playing something with a WAR tank why it would not be considered mandatory? What other skills could a DPS have that would take precedent?
As a tank in dungeons there are always pulls that number at least 3 mobs, for a WAR tank our best dps comes from spamming the hell out of overpower. The skill itself hits each mob for 120, that's 360 potency damage per gcd on our part. In a 3 GCD rotation that's 1080 where as a BB combo hits for about 580 against one. However this comes at the cost of 120 TP, now I know there are DPS with skills that likely hit far harder than this (I don't play DPS much, highest is lvl 20 Pugilist ATM) but it still lets the WAR tank do more damage than anything else in their arsenal. It (in my opinion) would help everyone if goad was used on occasion to keep this up on pulls, especially some like in DD where you occasionally pull the whole room somehow.
If anyone has an argument against why Goad should not be one of the 5 skills you keep on I would love to hear it and have a discussion about the best way to manage this.
TL, DR: If you have a warrior tank, please consider putting goad on at the beginning.
If I am reading this correctly, this mean that you were kicked during battle. I thought kicking couldn't be initiated during battle!?So I'm in Dzemael Darkhold on my Dragoon, out DPSing the tank and other DPS combined when our tank, a warrior, runs out of TP. This is literally the last pull before the final boss. She asks for a goad and I politely tell her I don't have it set up, to give me a second after the fight. And I promptly get kicked from the party.
Now...on higher level content I get it. On difficult or progression, I understand. This was a freaking 44 dungeon. I was carrying my weight and more. Normally I even go that extra mile with goad or what have you, I just hadn't thought to set it up on my Dragoon yet. Just casual leveling, ya know? I just don't understand this level of jerkwadery.

Oddly enough, I'm almost always asked why do I keep Goad on all my jobs that can slot it. I used to be a NIN main, so I was happy finally be able to slot Goad on my NIN, SAM, and DRG now. I always loved the supportive roles in MMOs.

Before the changes Warrior tanks could take flash as a cross class skill, this helped with TP burn during chain pulls.
If you had refused to put Goad on your hotbar. Then yes the Tank would have at least some kind of a reason (a weak one) to act like they did, but this was not the case.
your tank was a glorified arsehole, its best to forget and move on. they wont change their ways. Once an arsehole, always an arsehole.

You weren't booted because you did not use goad, you were booted because you came across a bunch of douches.
Report them. Always. That's not different playstyles, that's being an idiot, and it's not true SE does nothing against them.
I have Goad on my Mnk/Sam hotbar for 30 days since SB has started but I never have to use it though.
Most dps I've run with Either decent enough that be able to maximize their aoe the mobs to death before they need more TP
OR
Bad Enough that never aoe at all and I'm the one that starve on TP but they never goad me ...
So I changed Goad to Bloodbath or Arm-Length thesedays.
Goad has become an excuse for people not to manage their own TP... so who should receive the goad in a tank vs dps scenario... cuz you can only goad one...
...no you mean for the same reason tanks don't have rampart. SE just screwed it up and made the needed stuff optional.
@Trunks: Even if i don't have another Melee or BRD/MCH in a dungeon, i have often use for goad on the tanks and in normal dungeons stuns are not really needed. Who can't run out deserves to get hit.
@Jim_Berry: Exactly what i do. Goad is always in my Melee skills.
