Oddly enough, I'm almost always asked why do I keep Goad on all my jobs that can slot it. I used to be a NIN main, so I was happy finally be able to slot Goad on my NIN, SAM, and DRG now. I always loved the supportive roles in MMOs.

You weren't booted because you did not use goad, you were booted because you came across a bunch of douches.
Report them. Always. That's not different playstyles, that's being an idiot, and it's not true SE does nothing against them.
See that's the thing, usually I have support abilities set up. I like to help. My summoner is ready to mana transfer or revive and my Samurai has goad accessible. I think I just got lazy about it since I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to use either in the past month. Normally I pay attention to that sort of thing. It just sorta sucks that on my one character that doesn't even have it at the moment I needed, gets the boot because of it.
Also I get it, this is a he said she said type deal, no way to prove it, so on and so forth. I just needed to vent to people who wound understand what I was talking about because it struck me as so ridiculous.
Either way, my apologies guys, and thanks for listening to me rant for a bit.
Oh well i didn't want to offend you or something i was just wondering why you wouldn't have goad in your bar because most of the other skills that you can pick are pretty much useless and sadly most people choose them over goad. So it was more a overall question and not just for you.See that's the thing, usually I have support abilities set up. I like to help. Ranting helps to get down.![]()
People also forget that while you get 5 role skills they are gated by level... so the order you put the role skills in matters.... if goad is in spot 5 it won't be available under a certain level when you get synced... if you spend most of your time in high level content it's easy to forget role skill adjustments for low duty

It is a 2 way street though, what would tanks do in HW where as Ninja was the only job with goad?
I think some are using as a way or excuse not to manage their tp as hey all mellee have goad now, just like how it is at times with healers when Red Mages are in a group.
Why heal or raise, Red Mage can do it.
Myself though when i played Ninja i would always use goad and with Red Mage i am often having to raise healers and heal tanks to prevent wipes
Players just get lazier and lazier
That used to be true. Not anymore. You now CAN use a 44 role skill in a low level dungeon.People also forget that while you get 5 role skills they are gated by level... so the order you put the role skills in matters.... if goad is in spot 5 it won't be available under a certain level when you get synced... if you spend most of your time in high level content it's easy to forget role skill adjustments for low duty
The leveling dungeons are infested with delusional players who think they are legitimately playing seriously. Blow them off and move on.
I know I'm late to this party by a fair bit, but I would like to speak to the tank side of things. Specifically the WAR side of tanking this as that is my main.
Before I start into the meat of it I will say this, I personally find kicking anyone for anything short of being an ass or a disconnect is inexcusable. Especially when you're doing roulette content as it's meant to mix the experienced with the new.
Onto my main point: I have seen someone in this thread say Goad is an optional skill, I would ask that if you're playing something with a WAR tank why it would not be considered mandatory? What other skills could a DPS have that would take precedent?
As a tank in dungeons there are always pulls that number at least 3 mobs, for a WAR tank our best dps comes from spamming the hell out of overpower. The skill itself hits each mob for 120, that's 360 potency damage per gcd on our part. In a 3 GCD rotation that's 1080 where as a BB combo hits for about 580 against one. However this comes at the cost of 120 TP, now I know there are DPS with skills that likely hit far harder than this (I don't play DPS much, highest is lvl 20 Pugilist ATM) but it still lets the WAR tank do more damage than anything else in their arsenal. It (in my opinion) would help everyone if goad was used on occasion to keep this up on pulls, especially some like in DD where you occasionally pull the whole room somehow.
If anyone has an argument against why Goad should not be one of the 5 skills you keep on I would love to hear it and have a discussion about the best way to manage this.
TL, DR: If you have a warrior tank, please consider putting goad on at the beginning.
